Cant complete room setup

Because I haven't got any controllers steam, you dumb ♥♥♥♥, ITS AN OCULUS. How do I make this message go away?

It's requesting controllers because SteamVR uses them to set up the chaperone system. Sadly, Oculus is restricted to standing VR. Although that won't stop you from being able to move around with tracking.

you can reset position. not an issue

Just be careful. I imagine a person using an Oculus VR HMD without chaperone dying by falling through a glass living room table would be all over the news.. and you don't want to be that guy.

he needs not worry, he has no hand controllers, just joystick as long as he resets position and is seated.
