A lovingly crafted remake of an influential NES game that introduced the joys of pogoing to the 2D pixel world. Adds a number of surprisingly lengthy cutscenes, probably enough for a full DuckTales TV episode, and it is a good episode, with the entire cast chipping in while Scrooge charmingly fires off his peculiar alliterations left and right. They even got the og voice actors on board, despite some of them being 90+ years old (!) at the time.

The difficulty is pretty accessible by old-school standards: instadeath hazards are not rare, but you can cushion against those with extra lives that don’t expire between levels, and the boss patterns are simple enough to avoid damage. The visuals are great, giving the whole game a new polished look while also staying faithful to the original.

I wish all NES classics could have such a high-class modern version.
