[IMPORTANT] Better-Post War Europe and the Future
Hello guys!

I'm sorry for the radio silence in the last couple of months. And I know that I should have written this sooner. However, a lot has changed in my life and over the course of time I spent less and less time working on the mod. Responsibilities came and additionally I also lost the mood for Hearts of Iron. And that was a shame since I planned to add some interesting new event chains, state changes, new countries to make the game more authentic and close to how WW2 really happened.

With the release of 1.6 Ironclad the devs FINALLY added most of the state changes and a lot of new countries to the game, almost three years after release. While they worked quite sloppy in some areas and still have not fix the flow of WW2 I was satisfied to see those changes after all the time. After all, BPWE was created first and foremost to fix the borders in Europe. The events and other additions came later (I never expected the mod to land on the workshop front page in the first place). Additionally, I planned to discard the project once Paradox made the changes I wanted to see badly.

Now, I hardly see a direction to go. It was planned to re-release the mod under a new name with the goal to not only fix the states but to add events/decisions/content to make the game more historical and believable. Unfortunately this never came to be as my social life, university and other responsibilities became more and more time-consuming and my mood for modding and playing Hearts of Iron slowly vanished. In addition to that my modding buddy became less interested in BPWE as well and jumped off later. So there was the burden of updating tons of files on me alone again, but this time Hearts of Iron changed as good as everything I changed in the first place.

I'm not a professional modder nor claimed to be one. There are tons of mod teams out there, trying to make Hoi4 the ultimate World War 2 simulation and beyond that. I can not compete with their output and would not even try to do so. My goal was to simply create a small project to allow proper post-war borders, nothing else. Any other ideas came from you guys and it helped to turn BPWE into something more ambitious. I see my "duty" with this mod fulfilled and would abandon it yet I still have a small desire to continue. However, with all the factors I mentioned earlier, it's easy to lose interest again sadly.

If I am going to revive this project under a new name remains to be seen. I do not want to make any promises, they mostly lead to disappointment. Still, I would feel bad to completely abandon this project and throw all the hours I spent coding into a trash bin.
As a note, for this workshop item there won't be any updates for 1.6 and beyond as the updating process would feel useless and simply take too much time. If Hoi4 was released with all the stuff present in patch 1.6 there would have been no Better Post-War Europe.

I hope I could clarify some things concerning this mod and why I did not continue modding in this year. BPWE can only continue as a new mod (after all the name does not fit anymore). If this is going to happen is something I can't answer yet.

Thank you for reading this far.

- Andrew

thanks for notifying this is a good mod i used it so much during 1.5
You're right that a lot of the updates paradox made render things like changing the provinces obsolete. One thing I love from your mod though is the post war events. The alternate ways you can split up Germany etc. That is definitely something you could expand on if you ever feel like doing it. (Maybe add similar type of events for different scenarios such as the USSR losing etc.)

Although I never got to use this mod as I am somewhat new to HOI4, I want to thank you for even going through the trouble of making this mod in the first place!
