In 1941, when tanks were organized into a unit of their own, it was clear there was a desperate need for a troop carrier able to both keep up with the tanks and provide protection against artillery shrapnel and small-arms fire. Due to the war there were no international suppliers to buy from, so the only option was to develop a domestic solution. AB Landsverk designed an APC consisting of a chassis from a regular army lorry equipped with an armoured shell.

The armour-plates were made by Bofors, Landsverk, Bröderna Hedlund and Karlstads Mekaniska Werkstad and then delivered to Volvo and Scania-Vabis for final assembly. The Volvo and Scania-Vabis versions were known as Tgb m/42 VKP and SKP, respectively. The first approved delivery was made in 1944, after some 38 vehicles had been failed due to tensions caused by welding the hardened steel. This was rectified by switching to a soft-hardened steel and then heating the completed body-work in purpose-built ovens to remove the tensions.

During the 1950s the vehicles were modified with a mounting for a double machine gun on the cab roof and at that time the designations changed to Tgb m/42 VKPF and SKPF (F = Fordonsluftvärn, or vehicle anti-aircraft).

The KP saw combat with Swedish UN forces during the Congo Crisis in the 1961-1964 period (Scania SKPF variant only). 15 KPs were also bought by the UN and used by the Indian and Irish battalions in Congo. An armoured, open top turret for the machine gunner was added to the KPs in Congo after a number of gunners were shot in the abdomen. A few left-behind UN SKPFs were reconditioned and used by the Congolese Army in 1964-65. SKPFs were also deployed by United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus during the Cypriot intercommunal violence.

In the 1980s and 1990s, many surviving SKPFs of the Swedish Army were modified with armoured roofs and in many other ways, resulting in several new versions.

The SPA-Viberti AS.42 Sahariana was an Italian reconnaissance car of World War II. The AS 42 Sahariana was developed by SPA-Viberti using the same chassis as the AB 41 armoured car, including its four-wheel steering, but with a 2x4 transmission specifically for desert operations, primarily in a reconnaissance role. Its origins trace back to requests stemming from units operating on the North African Front for a long range, highly maneuverable vehicle, similar to those widely used by the highly successful British reconnaissance forces, the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG).

The next two designees are complicated. Both are basically heavy tank, but they role is either Tank Destroyer AND/OR Tank Artillery. Here's the link as to why. And you will not find any other info other than this. Though you might get lucky as I did. I pick these 2 designs because they are different from each other. http://ftr.wot-news.com/2014/07/12/william-fosters-italian-tank/

Heavy Tank - 1941
P26 should be renamed to P26/40

Tank Destroyer (Tank Hunter)
Semovente P.40 da 90/53 - “Semovente 120/44”
http://cdn-frm-eu.wargaming.net/wot/eu/uploads/monthly_05_2018/post-544324256-0-11290200-1525298074_thumb.png
This has a P-26/40 (P26) hull armor with a cannon 90/53 Mod. that did not left the drawing board.
This is either a tank destroyer or AA. I could be wrong, if so, then considered this a concept idea.

“Looking at the hull too it appears to be wider than the M.14 series hull and may be either the originally planned P.26/40 hull or an intermediate type hull which has been modified. Later on we’ll see a third option for a Semovente 149/40 which is the type of hull I believe this one to also be. The layout remains essentially the same however with the transmission at the front, then crew, engine and the pedestal for the gun mounted immediately behind and above the engine. The platform provides ample space for rotation of the gun during 360 degrees of firing but given the dual purposes of these guns (and a possible specific AA role for this one) I believe it would have been fitted with a gunshield had it gone to production. There’s also a lot of space under the platform at the back for ammunition too.”

Anti-Air (SPAAG)
90/53 Mod. 39
http://www.o5m6.de/wehrmacht/img/Lancia%203RO%20Autocannone%20Left_small.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/it/thumb/0/01/90_3RO_posteriore.jpg/260px-90_3RO_posteriore.jpg
The medium was born in 1941 from the need of the Royal Army to provide anti-tank protection to the motorized columns with a mobile platform for the cannon 90/53 Mod. 1939 , born as a heavy anti-aircraft weapon and proved excellent for the fight counter - trucks (similar to the 88 German) . Despite the Ansaldo proposed installation on an Alfa Romeo chassis , the military preferred the robust Lancia 3Ro heavy truck . The prototype was presented on 6 February 1941 and on 10 March the army ordered the first 30 copies. They are then reduced to 10 for the entry into service of ' autocannon 90/53 about Breda 52. At the end, all 30 initial copies were confirmed and delivered by 1941.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ee/cd/f4/eecdf453d05828ec17c548a91b85f6fe.jpg
The genesis of the vehicle follows that of 90/53 on Lancia 3Ro . These two vehicles stem from the need of the Royal Army to provide anti-tank protection to the motorized columns with a mobile platform for the 90/53 Mod. 1939 cannon , which was born as a heavy anti-aircraft weapon and proved to be excellent for the counter- fight . The Breda tank, presented in March 1941, incorporates the Lancia's solutions, which had been adopted in January of the same year. From 1941 to 1943, 96 specimens were produced.

The 102/35 Mod. 1914 cannon was installed on the truck bed using two different types of trucks: the OTO Mod. 33 on the first two models and the Vickers-Terni carriage Mod. 25 on the others. The modifications on the vehicle instead consisted of the "cut" of the closed cabin, replaced by a folding cloth cover, and the installation of four manually operated jacks; the rear body was replaced by a firing platform on which the barrow wielded 360 degrees; this platform expanded to be put into battery by the 90 ° reduction of the two metal side walls, which increased the space that can be walked on by the servants. The latter are transported on uncovered benches located at the rear end of the floor, between the two reserving rooms for quick use.

The Ansaldo GL-4 was an Italian heavy tank project from 1929, very little is known about it's development but the Italian army rejected it due to the complexity and cost. Ansaldo then tried to sell the design to the Soviets who were more interested but preferred to design there own heavy tank.

My note: “I know this was designed in 1929, but this is a concept idea. Sooo why not as a super heavy tank, but a super heavy tank destroyer. LOL! After all, this is italy we are talking about here.”

FT 75 BS, howitzer armed version. About 40 were built after the end of the world war I. Its fitted with a short 75mm howitzer gun. This gin is incredibly awkward and is not able to be used effectively due to the small turret on the Renault FT and lack of a dedicated gunner, loader and commander.

World of Tanks - “In 1943, ten FCM 36 tanks captured by the Germans were converted into tank destroyers. The vehicles fought in France with the Verstärkte Schnelle Brigade West. With a thinly armored, open-top superstructure and weak engine, the FCM 36 Pak 40 has a hard time defending itself when caught in the open and needs to be thoroughly concealed. When at a safe distance however, the FCM's powerful 75mm cannon and extremely high 400m view range enable it to do a great amount of damage in very little time.”

The FCM 36 or Char léger Modèle 1936 FCM, was a light infantry tank that was designed for the French Army prior to World War II. It had a crew of two and was equipped with a short 37 mm main armament and a 7.5 mm coaxial machine gun. Power was provided by a diesel engine. The Germans captured 37 FCM 36s, using the administrative designation Panzerkampfwagen 737 FCM (f) for them. In 1943, ten of the captured FCMs were rebuilt as Marder I tank destroyers, which were employed by the 21st Panzer Division in the Battle of Normandy in 1944. Besides FCM 36, the Germans also used other captured French vehicles for the Marder I conversion; Lorraine 37L (170 produced), Hotckiss H35 (unknown number produced) and Hotckiss H39 (24 produced).

the Lorraine 37L Antichar was a anti-tank self-propelled gun built in a hurry in July 1940. the development nearly improvised tanks destroyer is often attributed to the German but it was indeed built in the hope to used it against the German and give a alternative to the Laffly W15T in the self-propelled anti-tank artillery role. the Lorraine 37L Antichar was simple. it was simply a 47mm SA-37 gun mounted on the chassis of the Lorraine 37L tractor. the tractor was lightly armored with 9mm of armor in the front and a 70HP engine, the tractor could reach a speed of 35km/h. in addition, the gun was equipe with a shield of 7mm thick. the self propelled gun was carrying a cew of 4 and 30 shell for the gun. the small size of the tank allow it to be unnoticed and the 47mm gun could penetrate 60mm or armor at 550m and 81mm at 180m, the gun had a rate of fire of 15 to 20 rounds per minutes. the gun had an elevation of -13° to +16.5° and an transverse of 34° on each side.

The 4.7cm(t) Panzerjäger auf 35R(f), or Panzerjäger 35R, was a conversion of the French Renault 35 chassis with a Czech 47 mm AT gun. Already obsolescent Panzer I chassis were similarly converted into the Panzerjäger I in late 1940 and early 1941. It had a straightforward arrangement, with a three-sided open casemate built around the gun, above the base superstructure. Behind it a large ammo storage bin was built over the engine deck. Although slow and high, 174 of these 1941 little tank hunters had been converted for Operation Barbarossa in the summer of 1941. They were later withdrawn and served with units guarding occupied territories, in France and Holland. Many saw action again in Normandy, but by that time their killing power was not highly valued.

https://wiki.warthunder.com/images/thumb/6/67/ARL-44%28ACL-1%29_Garage.jpg/422px-ARL-44%28ACL-1%29_Garage.jpg
ARL 44 should be renamed to ARL-44 (ACL-1) because its the first ARL 44 prototype. The tank received the ACL 1 turret with the 75 mm SA 44 gun or 76 mm M1A1 (sources vary on which one it was)

“Only a wooden mock-up had been completed by an engineering team headed by Engineer General Maurice Lavirotte, when the war ended. However, the end of hostilities did not mean the end of the entire project. To maintain some continuation in French tank design and bolster national morale, it was on 23 May 1945 decided to build 150 vehicles, even though there was no longer any real tactical need for them. On 23 June this was reduced to sixty vehicles, two to be finished in the first half of 1946. In March 1946 the first prototype could be tested, still with 60 mm armour. The Atelier et Chantiers de la Loire built the ACL1 turret used for the prototype, fitted with the American 76 mm gun; this was later replaced by a Schneider turret based on the one designed for the Char F1 and fitted with the 90 mm DCA naval AA-gun which had a muzzle velocity of 1000 m/s (AP; 1130 m/s HE) and a muzzle brake — the ARL 44 was thus the first French tank to feature this item. Firing trials began on 27 June 1947; the gun often proved to be more accurate than that of a Panther used for comparison.

Mainly due to the change in armament, the development and production of the turret would be drawn out; it was not until 1949 that turrets could be fitted to hulls produced in 1946 and placed into storage. Forty hulls had been completed by FAMH and a further twenty by Renault. They were fitted with captured German Maybach HL230 600 hp engines (real output 575 hp), brought back by a mission headed by General Joseph Molinié in the summer of 1945, repeating the course of events with the Char 2C, which after the previous war had also received captured Maybach engines.”

By 1935, there was an overflow of projects regarding an increase in anti-tank capabilies. Some specs asked for a tank hunter self-propelled gun (SPG), which led to the SAU-40 and ARL-40 design proposals. The first was a Somua project, closely based on the S-35.

The second was the ARL V39, built at the “Atelier de Rueil” near Paris. It was basically a modified Char B1 hull with a high velocity 75mm APX gun derived from a 1929 fortress gun, with a Muzzle velocity ranging from 400 m/s (HE rounds) to 570 m/s (AP rounds), with stereoscopic rangefinders allowing a 2000 m practical range, a semi-automatic breech and autoloader, and a data recorder.

By 1940 a single ARL-40 prototype had been built. No production was ever started even though it had won the contest over the SAU-40. With the 1940 defeat of France, the ARL-40 prototype was evacuated to French Morocco, but the project was stopped due to the absence of an industrial basis for any construction.

Until the liberation of France, the project resumed in late 1944.

On 26 October 1950 the type was reclassified as a tank destroyer.

The ARL 40 self-propelled gun was an extremely sophisticated assault gun for the time. After a long development it was built in the second half of 1940 to equip the armored divisions and act as an artillery accompaniment. In the summer of 1941 it was pressed into the direct-fire anti-tank role but was primarily self-propelled artillery. In late 1941, another artillery version mounting a modified Canon de 105mm mle 1935 B was added to the line.

http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/france/Renault-B1bis/B1_bis_beutepanzer_105mm_howitzer.png
With the fall of France in May 1940, the German Army captured a lot of French Army tanks and vehicles. They called them Beutepanzer (trophy tanks). The approximate numbers of French AFVs captured by the German Wehrmacht are as follows: 300x Panhard-178; 3,000 Renault-UE; 350 to 360x Lorraine 37L and 38L; 1700x Renault FT Tanks (various versions); 843x Renault R35; 550 to 600x Hotchkiss H-35 and H-39; 50x FCM-36 tanks; 297x SOMUA S-35 tanks and 161x Char B1 bis tanks. More than 5,000 captured French army armoured fighting vehicles were repaired or converted in French factories. Vehicle manuals were translated into German and the vehicle spare part production initiated.

One such Beutepanzer trophy tank was the very large Char B1 bis heavy tank. Many of them had been abandoned by their crews after running out of ammunition or fuel. The French Army supply system was poorly organized in 1940. Very few of these monster tanks were knocked out by enemy action.

They were given the German designation Panzerkampfwagen B2 740(f) shortened to Pz.Kpfw. B2 740(f). The letter ‘f’ signified that it was a French built tank. Hitler issued a directive in March 1941 that sixteen of these tanks were to be converted to self-propelled artillery guns and used to support the Flammenwerfer auf Pz.Kpfw.B2(f) flamethrower tanks as they assaulted Soviet positions on the Eastern front.

It took longer than initially planned to convert the Char B1 tanks to self-propelled artillery guns. Lack of equipment, vehicles, guns and parts were blamed. The Flammenwerfer auf Pz.Kpfw.B2(f) flamethrower tanks went into action without supporting artillery SPGs in June 1941.

The Panzer-Abteilung (Flamm).103 was disbanded by mid-July 1941. The B2 Flammenwerfer tanks were a disappointment to the Germans. They kept on breaking down with mechanical problems. They were not reliable and could not be depended upon to get to an enemy strong point and neutralize it.

The "ARL tracteur C", or ARL Char C, was a French super-heavy tank developed during the late Interbellum by the Atelier de Construction de Rueil (ARL) company. A full-scale wooden mockup was halfly produced, but the project was terminated in favor of FCM F1, a directly competing design, which proved to be superior design. The vehicle was meant to be extremely heavy and for that time period, very heavily armored. ARL C was intended to be very long to fill up the requirement of having a long tank that could cross trenches up to 7 meters wide. The tank was multi-turretted like FCM F1; however, unlike FCM F1, ARL C had the main turret in front of the very long hull right behind the secondary turret, not in the back of vehicle. The development path of the ARL C was extremely complex, due to the existence of a number of parallel super-heavy tank projects with overlapping design goals, the specifications of which were regularly changed. For each project in turn several companies submitted one or more competing proposals.

Second World War
In September 1938, the ARL company was granted a development contract for the char maximum, the first proposal for which was presented by ARL in May 1939. It had a proposed weight of 120 tons, consisted of two detachable modules, armor up to 120 mm thick and could be armed with either a gun or a flamethrower. The commission decided that only the guntank would be considered, however.

In 1940, the specifications of ARL's tank, now named as "Tracteur C" to keep the project secrecy for outsiders, were changed: the tank was designed to have two turrets, 47 mm gun on front and on new larger turret, a 90 mm gun. ARL on 17 January 1940 ordered four turrets from the Schneider company, but it agreed only to build two 105 mm gun turrets and refused the two 90 mm gun turrets, as there was simply no capacity to manufacture them. In April 1940, after AMX's super-heavy programme was terminated, the subcommission advised to go ahead with both the FCM F1 and the ARL prototypes and immediately place an order for ten or fifteen of the former. That advice was given to a new overarching Commission of Tank Study, to which ARL presented a wooden mock-up on 11 April 1940; FCM presented one the next day. It transpired that the FCM project was far more advanced and could show the new tank in every detail. Due to this, the ARL's project was terminated. Only partially finished full-scale wooden mockup was produced.

After Fall of France, in July 1940, the wooden mockup was captured by German forces. However, as the French super-heavy designs were absolutely unnecessary for the Wehrmacht, the mockup was soon dismantled and design documentation was apparently destroyed.

“In 1926 (some sources cite 1923), the Champagne n° 9 (late, 99) was modified to Char 2C bis (some fonts cite the Char n°10 (90) Poitou, too), an experimental version armed with a 155 mm howitzer (possibly a variant of the 155 C Mle1917 Schneider) in a casted turret. New engines (two Sautter-Harlé engines 6-cyl 250hp/each) were fitted and the machine guns in the side positions were deleted. In this configuration the tank weighed perhaps 74 tons. Though, the changes were only temporary: the vehicle was brought back into its previous condition in 1934 (some fonts cite that the "Champagne" returned back to its original state in the very same year). The new casted turret was used in the Tunisian Mareth Line. My opinion is that the industrial effort required for this modification would be wasted by its use for less than a year. I counter-intuitive that such expenditure should be used for so short period, even more in a vehicle that has been modified in the interwar era. IMHO, I agree that the Champagne 2C bis returned to its standard condition in 1934, because a question of logistic and maintenance standardization. Based on this premise, I modified the blueprint in 3 views of FCM 2C that I found on the internet to the 2C bis version.”

Finnish Vickers Mark E (6-ton). 26 were purchased in 1938, rearmed with the effective Swedish Bofors 37 mm (1.46 in) guns. They only took part in a single action until the very end of the Winter War, in late February 1940. The 4th Armored company was equipped with 15 Vickers and prepared to engage 20 T-28 tanks of the 120th Armored Regiment. However, only five were committed to the fight (four lost vs. eight T-28s armed with low-velocity howitzers), the others never made it into the action due to mechanical breakdowns caused by the cold weather. The remainder were later rearmed with Soviet 45 mm guns and were known as the T-26E and soldiered on in the Continuation War.

were the most abundant of all the Soviet tanks and the most captured during the Winter War. 47 were repaired, of which 34 were pressed into service on the front line, mildly appreciated since their engine was more reliable than that of the Vickers model. Some T-26As (twin turreted) and OT-26s were converted with spare 45 mm armed turrets. Their service time was limited and most had been retired at the end of the summer of 1941.

The SU-5-1 was equipped with the 76 mm (3 in) gun or the 122 mm (4.8 in) gun, whereas the SU-5-2 was only equipped with the 122 mm (4.8 in) howitzer. The SU-5-2 differed slightly, with a strengthened hull and suspension. SU-5-1s were manufactured in 1936 in a small batch of 23 machines. Shortly thereafter, the Su-5-2 was accepted for production. However, only 20 production vehicles were manufactured. Of these machines, only 18 were still in service in June 1941.

OR
SU-5-2 (Concept Idea / Captured)
http://ww2history.ru/uploads/1/1374089093_5-71.jpg
The USSR plan for 1936 was supposed to make a batch of 30 SU-5. Moreover, the military preferred the SU-5-2 with a 122-mm howitzer: the SU-5-1 was abandoned in favor of the AT-1 tank, and for the 152-mm howitzer on the SU-5-3 the base chassis was rather weak. The first ten serial SU-5-2 were assembled by the summer of 1936. Two of them were immediately sent to the 7th mechanized corps for military tests, which lasted from June 25 to July 20, 1936 in the Luga region. Mileage of cars was 988 and 1014 km, each of them made 100 shots.

Many were captured and some were even transformed into the first and only WW2 Finnish tank, the BT-42. In all, about 59 StuGs were obtained between the fall of 1943 and the beginning of 1944 in two batches of 30 and 29. These were of the Ausf.G type, with the long barrel. The first batch, within a few weeks, claimed no less than 87 Soviet tanks for only 8 losses… The Finnish nicknamed them “Sturmi”, for “Sturmgeschutz”, and often protected them with extra logs.

This one has a common Finnish addition of logs on the sides of the vehicle to assist against infantry based anti-tank weapons.

It is characterized that the main gun shield is made by casting. Finland purchased it from Germany but it never maded in time so by the time it arrived the offensive was also over and it never participated in the actual battle.

T-34 flak 88 (T-34(r) mit 8.8cm Flak) (Concept Idea / Modified / FAKE)

Version 1
http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/T-34-mit-88-drawing.jpg
A drawing of the T-34(r) mit 8.8cm Flak. The Flak 88 in this drawing appears rather low, and it is possible that the artist has neglected how the gun actually works. Certain controls, such as the elevation crank would be difficult to operate by the crew, given this layout.

Version 2
http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Henk-of-Holland-T-34-mit-88-flak.jpg
A model of the T-34(r) mit 8.8cm Flak by Henk of Holland. Similar to the above drawing, the Flak 88 in this model appears too low, and the crew would have to crouch down to operate certain controls. There also appears to be no space in which to carry munitions, and it is likely that it would need to tow a limber carrying munitions.

Version 3
http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/T-34(r)_mit_88cm_Flak.png
Another more detailed model of the T-34(r) mit 8.8cm Flak. It is likely that ammo would be stowed on deck, if this vehicle were real. Notice how the munitions are stacked right next to the engine compartment. If hit, the munitions might explode, thus causing a catastrophe for the vehicle and its crew.

My note: “Yes I know, but here me out. I would imagine that the Finlanders having and using this type of tank (Of course they did not). They did captured T-34 during the Winter War. And yes they too had a flak 88 as well. The flak 88; “18 guns of mobile version bought in spring of 1943. 72 fixed guns bought in summer of 1944. All of these guns were used in air-defence of Finland's most important cities. Unlike the Germans, the Finn did not use 88mm anti-aircraft guns as antitank-weapons, even if some APHE-ammunition had been acquired for them.” This image is a proof (https://www.jaegerplatoon.net/88ItK37_2.jpg). As you already know by now, there's three different versions of a T-34 with a flak 88. So far as I see it, this can have literally have three roles. One could be a tank destroyer, one could be a SPG, and the other can be a SPAAG. You could use one of them or all three, whatever works for you. I don’t expect you to use any them, at all. After all, this was an idea.”

From 1928 to 1941, the Soviet Union also looked into self-propelled heavy Anti Aircraft (AA) guns. One such prototype was the SU-6. This was a heavily redesigned T-26 hull, with a collapsible superstructure and a 3K 76.2 mm (3 in) AA gun. The collapsible superstructure allowed for maximum space for the crew while operating the gun, however allowed the tank to stay the same dimensions as a regular T-26 when in travel mode. This tank was trialed in 1936, but the project was dropped. 7 hulls had been manufactured, and mass production was about to begin. However, all of the hulls were seized due to the designer’s, P.N.Syachintova’s, arrest and subsequent execution on Stalin’s orders.

It's basically a ISU. “The captured JSU 152 assault gun was marked with Soviet tactical number 1212 and had earlier unrepaired battle damage – it had been shot through front hull under the gun mantle. This vehicle was found 230 meters from Portinhoikka crossroads on road leading to Juustila and had been immobilized by getting stuck on road bank. Also its right track was broken, which likely had caused the vehicle getting stuck on road bank. But this JSU 152 also still had crew well-armed and determined still inside the vehicle. 2nd Lieutenants Schrey and Hiltunen with group of soldiers "smoked out" the crew of this immobilized vehicle and shot them in resulting firefight. This assault gun was sent for repairs to Armor Centre (Panssarikeskus) in town of Varkaus. However it never got a chance to serve Finnish Army as an assault gun. At that time Finnish Army was lacking armored specialist vehicle designed for salvaging medium and heavy tanks from battlefield. Hence Ps. 745-1 was modified as such specialist salvage vehicle called JSU 152V by removing its weapons and equipping the vehicle with towing equipment. Repairs and modification work for this sole JSU 152V salvage vehicle Ps. 745-1 was completed in November of 1944. Only weapon originally intended for Ps. 745-1 was 20-mm Lahti L-39 antitank-rifle installed on top of the vehicle as anti-aircraft weapon, but final vehicle had also ball mount for DT-machinegun in its front hull in place of howitzer. In addition this salvage vehicle had its engine equipped with powerful muffler to reduce changes of enemy spotting the vehicle too soon. This salvage vehicle that remained in use of Finnish Army until year 1964, at which point it was transferred to museum use and returned to original form with re-installation of its 152-mm howitzer, which had been in storage all those years. Nowadays the vehicle is in Parola Tank Museum.”
