Ronin - Class Mod

Balancing and Fixes
Really like this class, and from experience he fills a similar role to the hellion and seems to work best when buffed with crits (Jester/MAA) and just wailing on enemies with flashing blade. The buff on flashing blade and his critical buff makes it so that he is a very momentum based character and that once be builds enough momentum he can deal out some serious damage, especially on the Endless Harvest where there are no shortage of enemies to kill. However, there are some abilities I find pretty underwhelming and some that require a bit of fixing.

SWIFT CUTS: I find that I basically never use this ability because
A. The damage is extremely weak with the -70% damage mod - even weaker than the hellions breakthrough in total damage,
B. the debuffs are honestly just way too severe. Giving up 30 dodge means hes a sitting duck the next couple rounds, especially if you've already built stacks with flashing blade and -5 speed is a huge hit to any damage dealer that needs to kill enemies before they can be hit (like the ronin).

Even though it's supposed to be a repositioning ability for when he gets shuffled around, the drawbacks are so horrid and the damage so pitiful that it's better to just move him forward 2 normally since he already has a 2 movement speed forward.

Suggestions:
Increase the damage mod to -60% so it doesn't hit like a wet tissue.
Tone back the debuffs so that it is more in line with hellion's breakthrough. E.g -10 dodge, -10% damage.

SHINGAN: This ability would be amazing if it worked properly, but it's so-so at the moment.
The ability is supposed to de-stealth, but the problem is that it doesn't even bypass stealth. I assume this wasn't intentional so either remove the de-stealth part altogether or fix it.

The debuffs on it are really powerful, I think the most powerful protection shredder in the vanilla game, but the debuff chances are just way too low. At champion level, basically every enemy has like a solid 50% chance to resist it. On the enemies you actually want to use this on, the chance is even lower.

Suggestions:
Take off the the dodge and crit debuffs and bump up the protection debuff chance to 140% so it is in line with most other debuffs - enemies you use this on generally don't have very high dodge anyway.

GUARD STANCE: There seems to be something wrong with this ability because it is just really unbalanced. I would love to use this ability more often but the riposte duration seems really short, shorter than the HWM and MAA ripostes, and for some reason when the riposte does hit the damage is miniscule, even if I have a ton of damage buffs on him that completely outweigh the damage debuff.

On the farmstead, my legend ronin typically has a ton of damage buffs from trinkets, the plague doctor as well as camp buffs so he can dish out crits in 60s, easily capable of oneshotting most enemies. However, once I use guard stance, his damage suddenly drops to incredibly low levels, where ripostes are hitting for 3s when they should be doing AT LEAST 10-20 damage.

Suggestions:
Look into the code and find out whats messing up the damage values and increase the riposte duration so it is in line HWM and MAA ripostes. I would love to use this ability more, but it's just broken at the moment.

To be completely frank, I don't really use any other abilities aside from flashing blade and calming zen, which is super strong btw. Battojutsu I can see the use as a high power tank killer to burst down a large enemy, but the damage debuff is pretty nasty to the point that you would realistically only use it once in a fight to finish off a dangerous large enemy. I don't really use swallow's return much either - I'd rather just use flashing blade again to deal more damage while still buffing my damage and dodge at the same time.

Fix these things about the Ronin and he would become my favourite class.

Hey, the author has given up on the mod but you can make ALL of these changes yourself by editing the ronin.info.darkest file within this folder - Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\262060\942851186\heroes\ronin

The other file is ronin.effects.darkest located in this folder - Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\262060\942851186\effects

Use notepad to open the files.

You can tweak all values to your satisfaction :)

The author hasn't worked on the mod in at least a year or so. He also doesn't respond to comments at all - so I would recommend trying to contact him by adding him (goodluck) or just edit it yourself. If you don't want to release it - then that's unfortunate, but without permission I can see why you wouldn't.

Ronin has way too much damage, is like a easy mode character, he should be relied on crits and not dealing raw damage my himself
