Ethnic Units
Suggestions for other unit skins
This is just a thread for the author(s) to read, as I feel there are some units that lack an ethnic skin. Anyone who feels there's a unit lacking something can chime in. Hope this gets some attention.

My suggestions:
Russia
Musketman. The vanilla skin doesn't fit very well with Russia, as they still look like conquistadors. One possible skin to use is the line infantry of Peter the Great: http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/9799/grouprg.jpg
Rifleman. Maybe it's just me, but seeing the Russians wearing a spiked helmet doesn't seem as appropriate. Plus, there are other uniforms that are much more well known, such as the uniform of infantry during the Napoleonic wars: http://i.imgur.com/ZwxCjnZ.jpg

Germany
Musketman. Considering how the Prussians (Germans' forebears) were renowned for their disciplined musketeers, I'm surprised this never got a skin. And yes, I know there is a prussia mod, but I feel like it should be in the regular German nation as well. http://www.militaryheritage.com/images/kolin.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VQaSvHc.gif

Anyone who has any suggestions is free to chime in.

These are all good. But let me just put this out here.

You're making it sound like they're waiting for unit skin ideas to pop into their heads. This I am certain is not the case.

The updates are slow, but they come surely. They add units at their own pace, and the unit types they add in we have little to no control over. Many units do lack skins. Entire Nations have next to none such as Assyria. Because they don't know what to model them into? Nah!

Recommending unit skins is fine, but make sure you don't give them the wrong idea.

I'm sure they have ideas, and I know some nations have no ethnic skins because the modders don't have time to give them all. This is just something to consider for them. I love this mod and I play it with Civ almost all the time. Do we have control over what goes in the mod? Maybe not. Does that mean we shouldn't even bother with suggestions? Hell no.

While I'm at it, some other unit skin suggestions
India
Musketman. It seems musketman lacks the most ethnic skins. Anyway, one of the most famous Indian military units was the Sepoy. Everyone who had contact with India used them. The Mughals, the French, the British and even the Portugese. The service of the sepoys were vital in securing India for the British. http://www.nuttyhistory.com/uploads/1/2/1/5/12150034/5302651_orig.jpg http://www.greendragonsociety.com/images/Indian%20Soldiers.jpg
Egypt
Cavalry. Probably the most famous and feared cavalrymen in the world were the Egyptian Mamelukes. They have a distinct Middle Eastern look which fits them very well, and wielded short curved scimitars, which were deadly. Napoleon even used them as special cavalry regiments in his European campaigns.

Well sometimes I play just WWI and I like that era, and install a mod where it keeps me there. But I usually start near a ton of horses and no other resource really. A lancer skin would be very nice, like a late WWI lancer or one from the Boer War, that would be awesome.

could you add a musketman, rifleman, horseman, archer, crossbow, and composite bow for songhai? and more zulu and polynesian units? and i havent seen the lastest so i dont know if this will apply, but could you make the shoshone units (and maybe the sioux mod) look more plains orientated. i dont think they wore mohawks like eastern algonquin indians. thank you for all your work

Personnally i would like a guide released too aid in making your mod compatiable with this as well as being able to have different skins with this mod installed. I'm sure theres a tutorial out there for this, but i have yet to find one.

The Celts should have overlapping unit skins with the English from the Modern Era onwards and Celtic Great War Infantry need to wear kilts.

Different anti-tank gun skins (ex. Zis-2 or Zis-3 for Russians, QF 17 pounder for English/Celts, 57mm M1 for US); artillery skins (ex. leFH 18 for Germans, QF 25 pounder for English/Celts); and anti-air (ex. 2cm Flakvierling 38 for Germans).

Alternately, you could apply the skins of self-propelled versions of these weapons: M10 Wolverine, Sherman Firefly, SU-85, Stug III auf. G, Hummel, Priest, ISU-152, M16 (American AA halftrack), Ostwind Flakpanzer, Centaur, etc.

Please add Streltsy skin for Russia instead Musketmen.

I think the main focus should be getting skins for civs that don't have any, mostly Carthage and Byzantium.

Byzantium's units should overlap with Greece until the Classical Era, then change into some uniquely Byzantine designs as the game goes on.

Carthage's units should look Phoenician until the Medieval era, where they overlap with Morocco for the rest of the game.
