Ranked Matchmaking AI

best bots i could find but still a pile of crap
1. support bots in your lane don't support. they just take last hits and run away.
2. all bots on your team are incapable of knowing when the other team is attacking you. they don't help. they site back and wait and THEN go in after you die. i see this over and over and over and over again.
3. enemy bots dive tower and work together. your bots do not.
4. friendly bots are lost. 100%. no idea wtf they are supposed to be doing other than taking your last hits, waiting until your dead to fight, etc.
5. enemy bots don't protect their ancient. if it's almost over they just spawn and run out of high ground for some unknown reason.

i don't know if this is all because of Valve's inability to create a system that allows devs to create a decent bot script but there is no reason to play with any of the bot scripts available because they are so far from an actual DotA2 experience it's not worth your time.

we appreciate the effort but using this script will just get you bad habits.

it's very very bad.

so far from an actual DOTA 2 experience it's not worth your time, eh? so what you're saying is i should uninstall this from my computer until i get better internet? and hey if you are doing good here when the team does not help (the trick i've found is wait until they get in a fight then join) and know how to survive then i don't think much (other than pure skill) on the part of human enemies can kill you.

also the AI can use glyph. thx.

No it has nothing to do with interet.

It has to do with the Bot code not being there for the community to properly make good AI for bots to mimic a real Dota experience.

The bots are lost, get confused, move in circles, run away, steal your farm when they are a support, don't group up, don't make smart plays... unless they are on the other team. Only then do they mimic a real Dota teamwork experience.

So it's almost pointless to play bots. You shouldn't play them other than to get used to the skills and combos of a hero. If you try to use them as a basis for a real dota match you'pre going to develop very bad habits that hurt your actual dota skills when in a match with other people.
please list some examples of said bad habits, because my internet is terrible and DOTA actually punishes me for trying to play with other humans, so i can avoid them.

Like KOTL's Illiuminate to flash farm/evaporate creep waves with the team?

Now I understand what you are asking.

I think in your case working on mechanics of a hero is perfectly fine with bots.

Use this bot script and another called "exceptional ranked AI bots" and jump between them if you don't already.

The bad habits I'm reffering to have more to do with the natural evolution of a match and how it's just different from playing with humans teamwork wise. You will get into habits of expecting certain things to happen in bots that won't happen with humans.

Like when a team sees you getting ambushed the bots won't help but the humans will. The bots won't punish you for picking up their bounty rune but humans will. The bots sometimes just run by you without attacking and that never happens in a human match.

Bots are programmed to react to specific triggers... and Humans are not so there are too many subtle differences to list but when you get comfortable with the way a bot match goes you will be less prepared when playing against humans... but not completely.

Use the bots to learn the heroes. Work on their mechanics and timings instead of trying to learn how a team plays together. Watch matches for that.

Teamwork with bots vs humans is different. It's mostly team-orientred bad habits.

Like I said I think you should be fine working on a heroes farming patterns, or combos, or experimenting with items, etc. but don't get to comfortable with how to play with your teammates in Bots. It's not the same as vs. Humans.

Sounds obvious. :) Good luck!

ah so thats why i can run to all four bounty runes and only like 5% of the time i get killed. its a good thing YT exists so i can watch matches not in game. yeah i have a warped sense of Early/Mid/Late game not helped by my IRL sense of time.

as for the Exceptional ranked ai bots, hm let me find that script, haven't heard of it before.

Hello,

We can only provide limited practice for players, and it does not allow you to improve a lot of skill levels.

You know, after valve pauses technical support, not many developers continue to update the script. My time is limited, there is no way to develop some new features without support, and I can only do some limited maintenance, I hope you can understand.

If anyone is willing to develop this script, then we will be happy. Its source code is hosted on github, and anyone can easily submit a Pull Request, and I will merge it into the Steam community in my free time.
