Let's get a running tally of all the artifacts we've found so far. I've found two so far and I'll list them below. If you've found an artifact, post a screenshot here and I'll add every one to the original post as quick as I can.
*Note, if the artifact comes with a special skill, please provide an image of the skill's tooltip as well!

What are artifacts?
Some useful information about artifacts we've discovered or the devs have told us:
Combining an Artificers Stone (one can be bought from the Weaver, and another can be found on Zixzax's desk, though you only need one since it's reuseable) with an artifact will destroy the artifact and give you a shard. given that you have high enough crafting ability.
Artifacts can be upgraded to the next tier of awesomeness by dropping them on the ground and using the shards made from other artifacts.This often opens up the unique traits tied to an artifact.
Artifacts were not designed to limit the random loot aspects of the game and will generally not be outright better than a divine item that rolled perfect stats for your character. However, artifacts have many interesting and unique abilities tied to them and are great for enabling hybrid and other interesting builds.

So the easiest way to do it will be to create a dump on imgur and link it here, so here it is!

    This thread may get a little big since each artifact scales with level, often gaining additional bonuses. ;)

    Also, SPOILER ALERT for those not interested in seeing the artifacts before they find them on their own.

    Quick question to aid with my search: Do artefacts spawn before level 15? As in do I need to travel back to old areas to find some, or can I find them all through normal play with a currently in -progress play through?

    Found another one. Called Fecundity! Updated main post. Have a limited use for this one as it unlocks and INT/Geomancer skill but is clearly a ring for DEX characters. Maybe a geomancer/ranger would really enjoy it.

    Most artifacts will begin to spawn at level 5, and they will go on spawning through endgame. Some will spawn starting a little later. (Sorry, no level 5 tenebrium artifacts!) Artifacts are basically all world drops, so you will get them in chests and from killing monsters since we want to reward playing the game with phat lewt. We wanted to take some emphasis off constantly checking the vendors. Level appropriate versions of these items should spawn, so you should always see the highest tier of a given artifact spawning relative to your level. Every 5 item levels constitutes a tier.

    It says to combine an artifact with a forge, but nothing seems to work to turn it into a shard. What am I doing wrong? I'm level 9 at the moment with a friend, I also saw you put in the notes a "Artificer's Stone" do I need that?

    The readme incorrectly referenced using a forge because that was what was using during development, it is now the Artificer's Stone that is used; I have updated the readme to reflect this.

    @ elric not sure how the drop rates are, but i've found a artifact at the first shovel spot in the game (right next to the very first waypoint) with lvl 2 and there are some more artifacts to add http://imgur.com/a/lnkpC

    Nice finds! Good to know they drop that low of a level, hopefully you're an odd case and the drop rate isn't always that high at low levels, as I can see having to upgrade and experiment with the low level ones you find to know which ones to upgrade might become tedius. I'd prefer if the majority of them you find are level 10-15+.

    Hey guys, just read this and it lifted my confusion about why combining a forge with artifacts didn't work. But what is an Artificer's Stone? Google does not seem to know aynthing about it and I can't remember coming across one ingame.

    You can find an artificer's stone at the weaver of time in the "End of Time". She sells them periodically. Not sure where else you can get them, but I found two with her so far. You combine them with an artefact (need high crafting) and it makes a shard.

    Cool thanks for the answer. I have only crafting 3 now but maybe the artifacts are worth it when they are upgraded? The base versions aren't as good as my other equip so far. Looking forward to experiment with this. Have found a few of those and was saving them until I figure out how to extract the shards.
