killing chief gives you one random artifact, thats how u get them, if i'm not mistaken

Chieftais USED to drop all artifacts randomly. But they are not dropping Scorched artifacts anymore. Killed almost 30 yesterday and NO ARTIFACT of the crab or gatekeeper.

They do drop SE artifacts. I got 3 artifacts from chieftains last night, 2 of them was SE and one of those 2 was Crag.

Blah but u need Artifact to tame them ROFL

The idea here is that you can't make the matrixes for Manticore, Dodorex and Dodowyvern unless you're lucky enough to get a chieftain drop of one of the 3 SE Artifacts.

Chiefs can drop artifacts, but it's random and only one artifact at a time. Deities drop artifact pack which contains every single artifacts (minus aberration), but you need bosses to kill deities anyway.

Normally, the best method to kill chiefs is to use a tamed boss and have plenty of blood vials for healing...otherwise using an army of high quality alpha dinos (rexes, spinos, mammoths, etc.) works best.
