Mhhh i guess its a bug and will be fixed, to draw more attention to your Problem you might want post it in the Ark Automated Discord under ark mod bug reports. :)

"Had an issue with gasoline consumption on the wireless generator, I went to my Island cluster that I've not used for a week or so to top up food troughs and I checked the generator. It was using 1 gasoline per second, so I spawned a load of gasoline and left it. Went back to the other map and logged off for the night.
This morning I nipped back to the Island map to see what was happening and it was still burning gas really quickly. I emptied the inventory and picked up the wireless generator and placed it down, set the range to maximum and it seems to be fine now."
MAYBE thats a workaround for you meanwhile

I believe the reason for fast wood consumption is because it's used to convert wood to charcoal. Its more of a conversion tool than an apparatus that uses wood for fuel. Toss some spark powder in there for long lasting fuel.

10 Thatch for 5 Iron....

Edit next day after posting this.
I guess the author saw this and changed thatch to 100 per second rendering this unit completely usless until late game / angler gel.

Too bad.
