I would really welcome it if someone could fix it.
In my current game I have a total population of 23 and I am getting 23 local happiness.
But monarchy seems bugged as well because I'm not getting those 6 I happiness out of my capital.
for newest versions
I also noticed some very weird AI behaviour that makes me believe that the AI is either cheating and getting heavy bonuses out of nowhere ((I was playing on prince so they shouldn't) or are abusing another broken mechanic which I have not figured out yet.
I'm not sure if "you are happier the more population you have" is an intentional design mechanic or a bug but if it is a bug then I really wonder how it got past playtesting. Anyone who plays a single game with this mod immediately notices it (hell this is the first time I played this mod and I was scratching my head after 200 turns when I figured out that is a thing).
In any case I really don't wanna badmouth this mod. It really has great potential but a couple of very bad design choices / bugs really screw up the game so hard that I will uninstall it again for now. It is unfortunate but even though vanilla is less fleshed out it does at least not have any absolutely broken or illogical mechanics like this mod.
According to the description the AI should be on a level playing field with human players but they are not. Either change the description or remove the bonuses.
I respect everyone who wants to play at whatever difficulty high or low they choose to play at but saying that the AI gets no bonuses on "Prince" and then having hidden stealth bonuses in the mod files is despicable.
One example and there are plenty: "Worker tile construction speed"
---
Vanilla:
https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Difficulty_level_(Civ5)
Prince -> AI Work Rate Bonus = 0 % (no cheating)
This Mod:
File: DifficultyMod.xml
<Type>HANDICAP_PRINCE</Type>
<!-- AI Bonuses -->
<AIWorkRateModifier>30</AIWorkRateModifier>
---
This mod gives AI workers a 30 % increased tile construction on PRINCE difficulty. If a human player needs 10 turns to construct an improvement then the AI only need 7 turns.
Don't get me wrong the AI defiantely is smart in this game but making it look "smarter" than it is by giving it hidden bonuses like this is despicable. There are also plenty of other bonuses in the same file and other files.
I know that someone will probably chime in here and tell me how he easily beats the AI in this game on "Immortal" difficulty but that is not the point. First of all knowing the exploits in this mod it is really not hard to do that but I play this game for fun and I want to have a relaxed match against an AI that doesn't cheat. This AI cheats. Blatanly! The proof is in the mod files themselves.
I rest my case...
Something is really weird with this mod and im gonna uninstall it..
