It snaps from the vertical and junction driveshafts, it is written in the description of the millstone.

Build the windmill or waterwheel first then build the axles down to where you want the millstone, and then place the millstone. :)
Okay, so the waterwheel is what is supposed to place first. What magic do we need to do to get that to place, then? I've gone through every piece in this little "mill set" and they all say "No Snap Point". I've run up and down a bunch of shores, trying to place the wheel and that's all it ever says, too. What do I need to do to be able to place this thing where I need it? :(

I placed my waterwheel just fine, it needs to actually be sunk into the water to work. I had to mess a bit with sinking foundations into the water.

The millstone however doesn't work at all. I connected the driveshafts snapped from the waterwheel up onto land. It has no snap points. Tried moving it inside, no snap points. After moving the driveshafts all over the place, I got it to snap to the driveshaft, with ground under it. However, then it said it needs a foundation under it. I put Keep Foundations under it (with no walls or roof) and once again "no snap points."

Finally, why does the waterwheel not create power? The description is very misleading claiming that it "provides power to powered items." In real life a water wheel creates energy.

Anyway, I love the look of the waterwheel, it's just sadly, the wheel and the millstone are totally useless.

Please fix!

Waterwheel placement

Apparently it does create power -- but ONLY to the millstone. I think something said that was just temporary.

Yeah, as my screenshot shows, and I mentioned, I tried placing it in the water. I even ran walls down, from my base, wondering if it needed to attach to a wall. In every case, it just shows up with "No Snap Points." It's aggravating because this is the only mod I use that has an enhanced mortar and I need to make narcotics faster.

It seems like it'd be a lot more helpful if we could place the millstone, and then connect the driveshafts to it, leading, eventually to the waterwheel placement or windmill placement.

Just build the windmill, instead of the water wheel, snap a cross shaft to the windmill and then drop vertical shafts down, use cross pieces/verticals/horizontals just like all the ark water/power stuff. The millstone will snap to the shaft. The waterwheel itself is still in development, but I just built a windmill and the millstone works fantastically

You need to set up foundations, build a wall and use the Waterwheel attachment wall piece, which the wheel will then snap to. It must be low enough that the wheel sits in the water.
Waterwheel attachment wall piece? That must be what I've not found, then. I'll look for that, thanks!

As for the windmill. I haven't wasted resources to make one because I figured it wouldn't work outside of Scorched Earth. (Other maps don't have wind) Is this one different?

I did not skim through everyones post but there is a wall specifically for the windmill (rounded) and one that is used for the water wheel. They should snap to the wall and then attach drive shafts to the inside of the wall. I was only able to add a cross section to the windmill which made the mill stick through the wall a little bit but it worked.

i have such question: i'am building a base on a dino platform, and i want to place a water wheel on it, (i build on a local server), so when i try to attach a watermill wheel to watermill wall it says that water wheel cant be placed on platforms; so the question is where and what i need to write in "GameUserSettings ini" so that waterwheel can be placed on platform?
