Planet siege.
Any suggestions about planet siege? Every siege maps and sometimes field maps are way to small. You just spawn in front of a enemy and sometimes in a small corridor where your troops just getting killed in the blink of the eye.

Show up in force. The rule of thumb is this: if you have less meat soldiers than your enemy, you're not going to win. Sieging really varies from planet to planet; here's a few ideas.

Space Stations (excluding Death Star)
  • Bring troops with good melee ability/durability, like Rebel Commandos. Imperial Royal Guards, Security Guards, or Jedi/Sith if you have them.
  • After opening salvos, order everyone to charge at the enemy. It's important to close the gap immediately and force your enemy into melee range, where their batons and knives are ineffective, otherwise you'll lose good soldiers and momentum.
  • Kill all of them.

Death Star
  • Bring high-tier sharpshooter infantry, like Royal Guards, Rebel Marksmen, or Scout Trooper Marksmen. The Death Star map is significantly larger than most station-type maps, and it's unlikely that melee will be a deciding factor in battles there. Still, make sure whatever you bring has good health and accuracy, because you'll be surrounded to your immediate left and right and far front by the enemy and will be under heavy fire.
  • Order all troops to "hold position" at your starting position. Try to take out as many enemies as possible while they're doing so; they'll be taking fire from all three sides. Consider issuing "spread out" orders to decrease the risk of massed groups of soldiers, which increase the chances of a shot hitting its mark.
  • Mop up as normal.

Large, open planets like Naboo
  • Bring sharpshooters and plenty of cav. Stage cav somewhere out of the way and line up the rest of your forces. If there is any, wait for enemy cav to be taken care of by your forces, otherwise, send out your speeders when the enemy force is engaged with your sharpshooters.
  • Cavalry can also be used to bait enemies into turning their backs and drawing fire away from the main lines- send them around the back of the enemy formation with a few careful waypoints, but avoid engaging directly-- cav is a lot less effective in this game than Native. Regardless, this saves your sharpshooters from taking blaster bolts to the face and depends on the speed of cavalry units being shot at them.
  • If the enemy is approaching and you know your line can't repel them in melee combat, repositiojn or retreat.

Tiny, hellish, urban planets like Chrystophsis
  • Bring lots of melee and meatshields.
  • Consider training party members/yourself in force powers and giving them lightsabers + top-tier force shields. They'll (you'll) turn into DPS/KPS tanks which can decimate the enemy. Helps if you can get as many as you can.
