I haven't had any fires myself, but I believe I read somewhere that CO gas from fires would, or just broken down air outlets (though this is a small amount and not at all a big deal if you fix them right away).

The toxicity slowly dissipate in your rooms and come out when external airlocks opens ;) It can be absorbed by your plants (flowers too)
