Bronze armour and weapons
As the title says I think adding in bronze armour and weapons would help things out quite a fair bit for the mod as currently there's a gap, made worse without proper crafters, between wooden plate armour and steel and historically speaking the best fit for it would be bronze armour ( partial lamellar and full lamellar with bracers and whatnot as well ) and bronze weapons (cutting swords, slashing spears and such in particular).

Why it isn't a asinine idea:
Bronze armour should be lighter yet no less effective than wooden plate (I believe it would offer slightly better protection vs crushing and slashing attacks and ranged piercing ones but ♥♥♥♥ed vs close combat stabs though but that goes for wooden plates too from a physics standpoint).

Bronze can actually maintain an edge better than most would think and thus would be very good for cutting weapons. Piercing isn't too viable, the metal is too soft even when work hardened vs steel plates, and crushing's iffy (a rock would be about as good and more available). Bronze weapons though would be much easier to make than steel weapons, the process is basically casting a sword shape and then working it both for extra hardness and edge, thus you'd get better results even with lower end crafters in terms of quality (the counterbalance would be the need to acquire both tin and copper to create the alloy, to keep it competitive though tin should be readily available on most maps while copper would be slightly more common than silver and to get a usable bronze alloy you'd need 2 parts tin for 1 part copper, in game terms and the means of producing the alloy should be fairly archaic so it is readily available).

For anyone that still thinks bronze weapons and armour are fairly useless when compared to steel ones:
