I would also like to know.
I have no extra mods installed.
I have a Painstopper Rib Replacement and a shattered 0/8 rib available.

Same here, just when I extracted my first painkiller rib I was able to install it, but wanted to wait untill I got someone who actually deserved it. Now I can't install it anymore. Is there any sollution to this at all?

This is an issue. They appear to be just like normal bionics, but they don't cause a listing to appear in the Operations list.
A good explanation as to why this is would be alright too: if ribs don't interact well with bionics (the reduced biological mass of the bionic individual messing with the dose?) that could be a balance thing.

It could be the concept of bionics being "tied" to the user that the dev mentioned, although I was able to take a prisoners bionic jaw and use it for myself... He didn't want our use of bionics to be so flippant.

You're suggesting that only the maker of the implant can use it? I'll check that and get back to you.

Nope, that's not it. The guy who made all the ribs is no different to the rest.
Something I noticed, however, was that one of my colonists has a shattered rib, the note being grey and giving it as 0/12 showing that this is considered toally destroyed. She is also no different with regards to the rib implant, but if anyone has any test they would like to do using this condition, please tell me, I'd be happy to and capable of carrying it out.

No, I didn't mean the one who created it, I meant the one who is using it.

Oh, okay, but then why would that prevent people from installing a freshly made rib replacement? Or, if that's not what you meant, what did you mean?
Slothcat Aug 16, 2016 @ 5:54pm
I meant a bionic that has been surgically installed into someone. Such a thing is supposed to "tie it" to who is using the bionic, mentally I would assume.

Ok, there are two possibilities: Either you didn't create a new colony (or world, don't know exactly), or you haven't done the rib implant research yet, which is need to install ribs. I don't know what else could cause this problem.

Well, that's annoying. I made the world specifically to use mods with and I've only been able to make the ribs since I got that research. I've got all the researches by now, so there's no clue as to what's causing this....

You misunderstand: why would the "tying" mechanic cause the problem that this thread is about? Or is that not your point? I assume it is because this is what the thread is about.

Yes, one bionic used on a colonist is not meant to be used by another.

I'll reiterate the issue then: we, the people on this thread, have not been able to install freshly made ribs into our colonists because the operation does not show up in the dropdown. They have not been in anyone before, so the factor you are pointing out cannot be the reason for it.

I'm having a hard time assuming what the trouble might be then, so I can only go out on a limb. Perhaps a game bug itself (it's still alpha after all) or maybe a conflict with extra mods themselves. This is from someone who installed a rib into a colonist with no problem. If anything, maybe the list of surgical options needs to be looked at a bit more closely. It can be a large list of options, and sometimes I have to pause the game to make sure I find the right one over a list of 20 choices. When it asked where I wanted to install the bionic rib I made it literally showed options of every single rib from the left to the right.

Yep, as I'm sure you saw, Ykara was here yesterday and there's nothing coming from that. However, the options of where to install the rib is new, maybe it has something to do with the huge number of possibilities.
