Grimy's Loot Mod
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

In Regards to Long War 2
Heads up to everyone about long war 2.

Long war guys say long war 2 will probably be "technically" compatible with mine, but there's going to be some theme and balance related concerns.

I'm planning to do a quick, partial playthrough of long war 2 to get some feel for the balance before I start making changes for long war 2.

Maybe I'll get some stuff out today, maybe I won't until patches come out.

This. Kudos. Like, "something-really-awkward-that-I-shouldn't-say-out-loud"-adorement like. Your work is much appreciated.

Take your time, Grimy, and let us know which mods and companions work best and/or can work with LW2. Want to continue to be able to use this awesome stuff in it, but won't until I'm resonably sure it's vetted by you. Thanks for all your hard work!

so there's going to be a long war 2 patch coming, that will affect the balance of long war 2.

So don't expect any updates from me for a week or two, because I at least need to wait and see how things are balanced after the first patch.

Doesn't seem like anything is truly gamebreaking. The loot mod gives you more lockboxes than you can reasonably research, and it ends up being a huge credit source. But you can always ignore that, no rush for me to release a patch just for that. Nothing that causes the game to crash is what I'm getting at.

*nod* you feel it's probably safe to try an LW2 run with just your base LootMod then, Grimy? What about the Alien Ruler companions, and the "mod everything" companions? I believe ModEverything is the one the LW2 BT detected a conflict with, but said that it still appeared to run OK for the most part.
Grim Loot's is the best but with the Long War = Best gameplay!

Should probably lower selling price by quite a lot then, since supplies seem to be a lot harder to come by in Long War 2.

In fact, even in regular XCOM 2 I made way too much money just selling green lockboxes, especially if they were wanted that month (50 a pop).

Also, is it possible to just make lockbox items both non-moddable and non-strippable? Because otherwise it'd be way too easy then to just strip really good mods (Superior Dragon Magazine, Superior Custom Stock, etc...) and put them all on one uber-gun.

Since LW2 changes gameplay a ton, allows crafting of weapon mods among other things any chance of reconsidering what I proposed to you on Reddit about making a version where the loot is the mods and not entire weapons?

Your weapons are not going to feel as awesome as in vanilla when a player can craft all the mods they want, can make better guns than what the mod randomly generates using them mods (apart from the epic/legendary broken stuff) and there are SOOOO many soldiers loot has to be shared around now and more grimyloot can be in a battle at once due to the increased soldier cap. Not to mention suddenly getting a mega OP super thing out of no-where in a mod all about a resistence salvaging what they can. being held together by duct-tape feels really out of place and players can't really spare research on opening lockboxes now.

Your main concern you raised on reddit was stacking mods to make OP mega weapons but if you make every single Grimyloot count as the same part then you can't have more than one Grimyloot part on a weapon. If possible you could alternatively balance your loot by making really good weapon parts have significant downsides (as in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mod baked into it) and/or have them take up multiple mod slots so the player has to make the choice between many lesser parts they can find/craft or the amazing thing they looted while still allowing multiple grimyloot on a weapon.

TY, Sir! Talk about on the ball! You have to be one of the most impressive modders I've seen in terms of reliability.

Take your time and have fun, GLM is one of the best mods for this game so it's not to be rushed :). Good luck and thanks a lot!

It appears that weapon that give/take stats don't affect LongWar soldiers.

hey thank you very much. Please do not rush in anything, take your time to keep this mod great. (the only info i can give for now in my lw playthrough imo: to much lockboxes are avaiable, although they are only tier1 they should be something special and not as common as a for example PCS...., they should cost more and should have longer cracking research)

i wonder what happens with all the secondary and the changes for some of the upgrades
