[Suggestion] Modular Cockpits
Well it's clear this is already the direction you're going. So why not go the rest of the way, hmm?

Keeping it short is a small list of parts and things we'd all love to see:
- LCD all the things. Because ♥♥♥♥ those static screens that seem to think you're perpetually level with whichever gravitational body you're near. We're in space. ♥♥♥♥ your up and down.
- Small Oxygen Tanks. You could skip this. It's not like we actually need to breathe or anything.
- Projector(paired with Projector Preview mod for an astounding custom HUD)
- Cockpit Lights. Because otherwise you'll never find your purse.
- Flight seat. This might be necessary to actually fly the damned ship. But what do I know?
- Ejection modules. Bit complex if you ask me. But hey, if you wanna launch your carcass into space then fine by me!
- Co-pilot seat. Because you should always launch your buddy's carcass into space first.


Some details on the Ejection bit: Functionally these are merge blocks(one for canopy, one for flight seat), some high recoil/NoDamage Gatlings(Again, canopy and flight seat), and some small batteries that are entirely dedicated to both of these systems. The full sequence should blast the canopy off, then launch the pilot out(unmerge > fire 'thrusters' > repeat for pilot).

Interesting idea. Could change the game if it's possible, but I don't see why it isn't considering what's already been done...The cockpit itself would just be the seat with a small collision box and the rest would fit around it using merge.

Could you do this for the az fighter cockpit and the other SE cockpit?

Yeah, I build my own cockpits around that and one of the small ship glass mods. Throw in sloped LCD and I have a complete set. It is however... not always pretty. Incredibly functional, not very pretty.

This is an incredible idea! I hadn't thought of breaking the cockpit down into small blocks that have functions before. I'll definitely add this to my to-do list! :D

Other suggestions, Multiple canopies, sliding, different hinge points ect ect (open from the side to maybe?) all great ideas and this look awesome

I agree as well on these. to me, I think every cockpit could do with these! A folding or sliding cockpit canopy (depending on shape), fold-in/slide-out steps to get in and out within the hangar and on planet surfaces, active LCD screens able to show information such as what automatic LCD's script can do, and (if this ever becomes a fully functioning thing I'll never want to build fighters without them) retractable landing gears as a single block.

Yeah, LCD screens and such would be neato. I saw a mod not long ago that I think had that but it would be kinda complicated to work it, but I hope all this gets implemented.

I have one canopy done (modern fighter style), an the underneath which will be the oxygen tank (fillable big from the bottom or small from the sides). The front and back are also done - What would you like these to be? I was thinking antenna, backup storage and backup reactor (but so you have to pick a selection and not be able to have everything). I'm not sure about the sides.

I have also decided to add a "heavy" version of each that has much more armour but no functionality.

I'm also going to add a different "back" that allowed annother cockpit and canopy to be placed behind in tandem.

Once this cockpit is finished I will add a more "Darth Biomech"/vanilla style canopy and then create a large cockpit (one that you enter through a door at the back for smallships gone large).

For the back on it a good idea might be some small conveyor ports too somewhere so those using oxygen cells or don't have as much space underneath the design to put a tank or generator can still maintain airflow to the pilot.
