Unable to Smelt Ore

So I put ore in the mine cart. What next? I try to "reinteract" with it, I try to hold down F on it, nothing happens. Do I need to put a certain amount of ore in order for it to activate?

Yeah you need to have 6 gold ore for 1 gold bar, 4 for steel and 3 for iron

Actually if you upgrade your craftmanship you can smelt ore with less ores
