How hard is it to add actual animals? Just curious. Also, any possibility of more survival recipes?
With the game files, how possible / difficult would it be to copy the zombie files, replace the models with 3D or 2d sprites, and change the AI for just the animals to be the opposite of zombies. For example, when a player draws near instead of trying to attack, it will run away. And then when the animal is finally hunted, it could be either tied together with hydrocraft for 'skin animal' or 'butcher animal' recipe and receive loot that way or have loot drop similar to zombie loot but instead of clothing it's meat, skin and bone materials.

I don't know much about modding PZ but I just wanted to put this idea out there. I think it would be really cool.

Also, I was thinking that it would be really cool to have much more survival recipes that are tied in with nature and more like how Haven & Hearth is played. I wanted to do a character that is wilderness only and no scrapping / dismantling civilization objects for materials. But hydrocraft is lacking a lot of recipes currently to make that possible. Or at least I didn't find anything.

I think having actual proper hunting implemented should be a main focus as it would be really cool to see wild animals roam around and able to be hunted. Not sure how long that would take with how the game's state is now though.

Adding animals like that atm would be difficult as there is no code to do that in game already to use. In the future pz themselves were talking about adding wildlife so if those have their own ai ten likely would be able to do something like that. And they would likely make skinning the animal work like skinning zombies not just have them drop loot. You can get an auger build a mine and get a lot of the materials needed for things that way as well as get a junkyard a well and become 95% self sufficient except for those rare recipes when you need something like car batteries.

Adding non-zombie NPCs requires Java modding which can lead to incompatibilities and not everyone wants to do that to their game. The survivors mod is a good example of this.
