Hydrocraft (Build 40)
How to get more power?
Ok, it's day 286 and the electricity has obviously run out.

I got a good base at a distant farm, but it gets awfully dark during the night, especially during winter. This sucks. I cant find my bed, I keep tripping over the furniture, and last night I destroyed a package of MREs while stumbling around in the dark.

One of these days a damned zombie is gonna get me for the lack of lights! This is no way to live!

SO:
What are my options to get power back to my farm? From the obvious generator + gas, of course. I cant use these precious gas cans to feed that hungry ol' Jenny, these things run my fancy pickup truck!

I presume the Solar Park[ELEC] and the Windmill[CARP] produce electricity, am I correct? Do they consume any resource once built? I realise this could be the case, since their skill requirements are insanely high (elec 7 / carp 10, respectively), so it could make sense.

And once I got one of em set up, how do I make it connect to the electrical grid in my farmhouse?

All help is much appreciated! The community takes care of each other, love you all! :))

OKay.. you need: Generator, full gas can, Generator manual

- First read the manual. It alowes you to connect the genny.
- Then place the genny ->Outside<- the house, can be on the roof too. Just nerver inside. You can die from the smoke.
- Now right click on genny and "connect"
- Take the Gas can in your primary inventoty, right clock on genny and "refill" or something like that
- Last: Right click on Genny and "turn on" i guess.

Thats it. The hole area around the genny has power. So you can power on a gas station to to get fuel after the power is off.

Thanks! How do I power on a gas station?

Turn off, disconnect, take, place on the backseet (or trunk or tallet truck) of a car, drop it @ the gas station, connect, turn on
David Hasihoff Oct 10, 2019 @ 10:19pm
then take an emphty gas gas in prim inventory and right click on the gas pump and "take fuel" - Or place car close to fuel pump right click on car and "take gas from fuel pump"

Ok, but how do I connect the generator to anything? I dont know how to draw power lines yet :( Do you need to click the generator with something?

Thanks Hasi :) You be a real helpin', mon!
David Hasihoff Oct 11, 2019 @ 11:31pm
You dotn have to draw power lines. As soon as you say "connect" at the genny every el device in the area is connected. Just try it. Connect and turn on a genny beside a house and all light, the oven fridge are working

if my memory is right you might need a screwdriver to connect the generator to the structure you want to power on

concerning solar plant, it s crazy to build, you need a lot of electrical clamps (you can install a mod to make it easier and craft them) but really worth the grind to level 7. it wont run if you get out of the area you powered it on, though, but it s a silent power generator. also you can take it with you in a backpack and plug it to the buildings you visit (sealed storage rooms, access from roof with sledgehammer), very useful to have lights on in those places.

and of course, for gas stations.

solar panel feels like cheating, but it depends on how you play, cartoon or survival. i like cartoon style :)

I recomend getting another generator to keep at the gas station. It depends on your setup but my food rots if I leave my base without power so I keep one gen going at the base and another at the petrol station for when I need to fill up.

Try and be quick at the petrol station, I just had a total disaster where the noise of the gen attracted a horde, they gathered round the gen and then I could not turn it off. It had almost ran out before I had lured most of them away. A total waste of a few days.

Good tips, mate! Will make sure to not bring my main generator, and to make sure I eliminate nearby hordes at the gas stations! :)

While using gas on a generator might seem wasteful; gas can be made trough biodiesel.

The solar generator only works during the day. When the sun goes down so does the power so I don't think that's the solution to what he's searching for.
And for some reason I have to unplug and replug my generator every single morning or it won't freaking work.

>The solar generator only works during the day.

oh. so i guess the battery array used to build it is purely cosmetic, and that i had hallucinations while using it at night and having power in my cabin by the lake.

please check what you advice.

"for some reason" unplug/replug bug has been explained a long time ago. google is your friend.

yeah I realized that sometime ago. Well I'm new to the mod after all and don't know where exactly to find some guide.
