Dota 2
Dota 2 Horde Mode
my thoughts
This is one of my most favorite custom games. I want to write some of my suggestions here.

Before I start. I play only for fun, I don't go for challenge, therefore always 5p easy map.

1. Let me start from the worst thing.
EXP and farm distribution between the lanes. Looks like the top lane gives the least amount of EXP and farm. Seeing people at top a few levels lower than the others is not uncommon. Other players know about it too. A game often starts with people claiming bot or mid. And it's not a surprise if others also want bot or mid, and trash talk begins.
Personally for me, it is the biggest issue of this custom game. I think the design should be different. In a way that people will have zero motivation to fight for a specific lane. Even (equal) farm distribution no matter where you go.
Of course, I know that the current system maybe was intended to represent things like "easy" and "hard" lanes, but it has disadvantages too. Custom games are played for fun. Fighting for a specific lanes is what people already have more than enough in normal dota.
This is very disattractive for me.

2. About hero balance
I'll be honest, I'm not really the one to judge it, as I don't play anything beyond easy map. But I started playing again recently when I found this game to be so popular again. With a new item, dragons javelins, most ranged heroes are very effective too. I think there are almost no "bad" heroes for easy map.
Yet, it would be super interesting if we could get win rate of each hero in this game mode! Statistics can tell a lot. Is that possible?

3. I see you have removed "suggested items" tab, and planning to change it. Looking forward to it. Any chance players can participate and suggest their item builds?

1) I think the point is that top is supposed to be an easier lane than mid. Kind of like mid is hardest, then top, then bottom. Bottom is pretty much always solo, mid never is, and top shouldn't be but can be, opening up for a rotating support or rotating jungler, etc.

2) I second this!

3) I made a discussion about items that Diellan said himself he's watching, look in the Discussions for my Item Shop one

1) Nye and I have spoken about the lane situation, and we have plans for overhauling that whole thing. His original vision was to try and mimic the standard DOTA trilane, with 1/1/3: and the offlane getting less farm and the bottom getting enough to support 3 players. But the bottom lane is too easy, so it doesn't need 3 players. We'll be changing this for sure (in the end, the lanes will likely ALL get regular creeps added).

2) I have no idea, but I'd really like to see it.

3) Items are changing a lot in the near future, so we don't want to work anything yet, but I think letting the players suggest some builds for us to implement would be nice.

Speaking of jungle. I usually take my own "lane", farming two creep camps near spawn. I usually do way better than anyone staying solo top(mostly by gold, though). That is a very nice position since I can give a hand to any lane at any moment. I wish you wouldn't touch those two camps :3

On the idea of winrates, could there be a script that activates on destruction of either ancient that reports which one was destroyed and what heroes were played, exempting games with disconnects?

I'll just look and see how other people are doing it, then report it... somewhere. Worse case scenario, I've got a Node server that I use for very little that I could set up to store data.

Maps and whatnot are Nye's domain, so you need to beg him. :) I personally don't see a problem with having them, given that "taking over the enemy jungle" isn't really an option here, and as you said - it allows some jungling without moving too far away from aiding your lanes.

I like to help how I can but when it comes to servers and coding I know very little beyond basic scripting.

1. People who go top lane usually behind in levels and gold. As result, they have less items, make less impact than the others, and of course it's not fun.
That's the key point -- fun.

The idea of representing standard dota trilane (or other design which makes lanes different from each other) is nice. Having different lane roles would be interesting. However, it's difficult to make things fair for everyone. I don't know...

Sometimes, I've seen people swapping lanes, so they all can farm, but it rarely happens.
I, myself, never refuse to go top if other lanes are already taken. But I usually try to help mid lane whenever I feel it's needed (especially, never skipping bosses). That's also good for exp :D

2. I can't really suggest anything about hero winrates. I know too little (actually nothing) about the system. Maybe we can have some kind of dotabuff for this custom game.
Btw, it also should have version filters. Because things change after every patch.
