The way it looks to me is that it's 'Long Reach' rather than long range, at least that's the way it looks to me. As to the fire, it does happen randomly, though Damage Indicators doesn't show the fire doing damage, which is fine to me since the fan itself does enough damage and the fire still causes panic as it should. Whether intentioned or not, I kind of like it being Melee, since then I still want to go and get an actual Fire Staff. :)

ah yeah, and I was wondering, the fan kind of talks to my character, what's that all about? Yeah, I noticed that, and it is nice to be melee. Thanks for helping me out cause I've been really confused about that. Other than that one thing and the talking fan, everything seems to be working. I am curious of how I level my characer up though, it says that she is able to get more health and such, wasn't sure on the wording though.

it said if you kill other things you get an soul heart by 15%. Or you can eat meaty stuff to gain soul heart by 10%/

I was running around killing spiders and I didn't get any soul hearts. I was also eating meatballs and her health and her food ammount wasn't going up either.

you have a chance of getting them by doing the mentioned actions, it's not 100%
it heavily relays on luck, one day you might get 3 in a row from eating 3 morsel
the othes, you might not even get one in an hour of gameplay

Ah okay, then that makes a lot of sense, cause in my playthrough I haven't been getting any soul hearts whatsoever. I'll give it another go sometime. Thanks for all the replies!

Do you have to do something to catch them? I got one eating a Meatball meal once. All my stats went up by one which I assume is the star at work?

You really must have not been paying attention to the post. Blaxer was saying that you have chances of getting hearts, but that they were heavily relied upon with luck. There is not a sure fire way to get more hearts.
