Bug Reports
Welcome to the Bug Reports Discussion!
If you’ve encountered a bug while using RimTunes, we’d greatly appreciate your help in reporting it. To ensure we can resolve issues efficiently, please follow the guidelines below.

📢 Important Update: Bug Reports Have Moved to GitHub!
Starting with version 1.5.380, we’ve transitioned bug reporting to our GitHub repository for better tracking and management. We strongly encourage you to submit your bug reports here: https://github.com/DepsCian/RimTunes/issues/new/choose.
- Why GitHub? It allows us to organize reports, use detailed templates, and link them directly to development progress.
- How to use it? You’ll need a GitHub account (free to create at https://github.com/join). Once logged in, follow the prompts at the link above to file your report. It’s worth it for faster fixes!

If you’re absolutely unable to use GitHub (e.g., no account and no desire to create one), you may still post here in Steam Discussions. However, please note: responses and resolutions will be significantly delayed due to the inconvenience of managing reports outside our primary system. For the quickest support, GitHub is the way to go!

🛠️ Before Submitting a Bug Report:
  1. Restart the game: Many issues can be resolved by restarting after enabling/disabling mods or switching languages.
  2. Test with a new save: Some mods require a fresh save to work correctly. Start a new game and check if the bug persists.
  3. Check for mod conflicts: Disable all mods except Core and any dependencies, then test again. If the bug disappears, it’s likely a conflict.
  4. Ensure you're using the latest version: Check for updates to both RimWorld and RimTunes.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please proceed with submitting a detailed report.

📋 How to Submit a Bug Report:
For the best experience, use our GitHub link: Submit a Bug Report[github.com]. If posting here, include as much detail as possible:
  1. Summary of the issue: Briefly describe the bug (e.g., "Volume slider doesn’t respond to input").
  2. Steps to reproduce: Provide a step-by-step guide to replicate the issue. Example:
    1. Launch a save.
    2. Go to RimTunes interface.
    3. Try adjusting the volume slider.
  3. Expected behavior: What should happen?
  4. Actual behavior: What actually happens?
  5. Logs: Crucial for debugging! Use HugsLib (Ctrl + F12 in-game) to upload logs and share the URL, or attach Player.log files manually (for both mod enabled and disabled states).
  6. Save file (optional): If the bug is specific to certain conditions, a save file can speed up the fix.

📂 Where to Find Relevant Files:
  1. Player.log:
    Windows: %appdata%/../LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/ MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/RimWorld By Ludeon Studios/ Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/
  2. ModsConfig.xml: Located in the Config subdirectory.
  3. Save files: Located in the Saves subdirectory.
Using HugsLib? Press Ctrl + F12 in-game to upload logs easily — our recommended method!

⚠️ Important Notes:
  1. Screenshots alone aren’t enough — always include Player.log for context.
  2. Suspect a mod conflict? Test with other mods disabled.
  3. Save files are optional but super helpful for tricky bugs.

Thank you for your help! Your bug reports are essential for improving RimTunes. For the fastest resolution, please use GitHub[github.com]. We value your time and look forward to fixing any issues you encounter!

1. bgm's not auto-changed when raid comes/tense starts.
2. bgm's not stopped when returning to lobby. even both plays lobby bgm and in-game bgm.

Hi, thanks for pointing these out!

1. This is not a bug — I haven’t implemented this feature yet. (I’m not sure when exactly it will be added.) It requires a near-complete rework of RimWorld's existing dynamic music system. However, I do have plans for a large-scale overhaul of this system in the future.
2. The issue with BGM not stopping when returning to the lobby will be fixed before update 1.5.2.

Thanks for your patience and feedback!

Bizarrely, I can no longer create a new game when this mod is loaded.

Using "Dev quicktest" button from the main menu without this mod loaded:

I have a large amount of mods (123 loaded), so I expect it to be conflicting with one of those.

Hi, thanks for pointing these out!

Look, there's a conflict between the Vanilla Expanded Framework and RimTunes. (A lot of my mods have suffered from it, so it's not surprising.)

When I have time, I'll try to fix the conflict.
I have this same issue, +1.

Oh, and VE Framework and Rimetunes alone is indeed enough to trigger this: https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/5fd9c5af06dff90d6d5be7c88c9c20ed

Hi again!

The issue you reported has been resolved in the latest update. Please make sure you have updated RimTunes to the newest version.

If you're still encountering problems, it could be a conflict with another mod in your load order. With 123 mods, these things can happen! If the problem persists, feel free to share any new HugsLib logs, and I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is the source posted anywhere? I'm not an expert modder, but I'm curious about what RimTunes is even doing that affects pawn generation enough to break VE Core.
Hi, the issue has been resolved in the latest update. Please ensure you're using the most recent version of RimTunes.

As for the source code, I'm not currently sharing it publicly.

Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out about the issues you're having with your game and the music. It looks like you're running into a few different problems, and here are some steps we should take to figure out what's going on.

First off, please make sure you're running the latest version of RimWorld and RimTunes. Sometimes older versions can have compatibility issues, and updating might fix some of the problems.

Second, the logs you've provided are helpful, but we need more information. Could you please do the following:

  • Please turn on Debug Mode in the mod settings under the Info section.
  • Please run the game without RimTunes enabled and grab another log. This will help me isolate if the issues are specifically from my mod or if they are caused by other ones.
  • I would also greatly appreciate it if you could provide your save file. (You can find it there: %appdata%/../LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/) This would allow me to manually investigate the issue and potentially pinpoint the problem.
  • Try starting a new game to see if the issue persists in a fresh save.

Additionally, have you tried any of these standard troubleshooting steps?

  • Verifying the game file integrity via Steam (Right-click on RimWorld in your Steam library, select Properties, go to Local Files, and then "Verify integrity of game files...")?
  • Disabling all mods except for Core and Harmony and then trying again? This helps narrow down which mod is causing the problem.

I understand this is a bit more to do, but by providing the additional logs and checking these things, we will hopefully get closer to fixing the music and other errors. I am dedicated to fix my mod if it has problems and all help is welcome!

Thanks for your patience, and I look forward to hearing back from you!

[RimTunes] [16:55:25.990] [Storage.cs:135] [ERROR]: Error saving remote songs data: System.InvalidOperationException: The Writer is closed or in error state.

i checked permissions on my drive and i have no other issues regarding my drive... im not sure what this means but whenever i load local music files, this error spams
Summary of the issue: Using this mod seems to make the Music Volume slider in options not work. Adjusting it has no effect on music playing through the player, and the only way to turn it down is via the master slider which affects *all* volume. Main Menu volume is affected as expected but once a game is started or loaded, the music coming from the modded player is not affected by any slider in the menu other than Master Volume.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch a save, or a new colony.
2. Go to Rimworld Options menu.
3. Try adjusting the Music volume slider.

Expected behavior: Volume of music should be affected.
Actual behavior: Volume of music is not changed by anything other than Master volume.

-----

Test with a new save: Happens on both loaded games, and new games.

Check for mod conflicts: Started a new game, and loaded an old one with only this mod, Harmony, and all DLC minus Anomaly, which i don't own,

Ensure you're using the latest version: unsubbed and resubbed, verified game files.

No logs generated, no error message.

Hi, thanks for reporting this issue!

Yes, I am aware of this problem. It seems the in-game music volume slider isn't working as expected with RimTunes, and it's a known bug.

In one of the next updates, I plan to address this issue.

For now, please use the dedicated volume slider in the mod's UI. Hover your cursor over the volume icon, and the slider should appear (or try scrolling with your mouse wheel over the icon).

As I've mentioned before, I will synchronize these volume sliders in a future update.

Thanks again for reporting it!
My track names keep resetting to the default when I play them, whether I'm playing them manually or they're just coming up in the queue.
I can't seem to get HugLib to work for a log, even with the standalone log uploader.

Hi, thanks for reporting!

The issue with track names resetting has been fixed in the latest update 1.5.380.

Thanks again! ❤️
Songs I have downloaded are being renamed to something like "潇摯䴠污慷敲ⴠ吠灯捩 - 桔⁥慬瑳戠物桴慤" or something similar once I add them into circulation. At first I could have just renamed the song back to it's original name, but now it's stuck on this slew of characters. It's annoying when I cannot see what song I am listening to.
