Multiplayer Galactic Conquest
I really love this mod. It has excellent ship designs and ground units. I would love to play it with a friend. I understand that adding multiplayer can be challenging for most mods, as they often crash or disconnect frequently. However, if there’s even a slight chance, adding multiplayer would be amazing! :steamthumbsup:

It is pretty much impossible for us to get multiplayer GC working without removing most of the mechanics that make the mod what it is, and even then it would still be very unstable.
We will therefore not be doing this.

I'm sorry to bother but what makes multiplayer galactic conquest so hard to make? is it how old the game engine is?

On the FOTR discord this was posted and AFAIK it applies to all mods, so basically if they removed alot of scripting it would only leave a very, very small part of the mod in place and even that would have stability issues so likely not worth it:

"Unfortunately Multiplayer GC has a lot of issues in EaW. For one, it's unstable and doesn't like cooperating with saves. For another, it doesn't allow the use of most of the things we do with in-depth story scripting or a large section of LUA scripting (and a lot of what you can do with scripting would further contribute to desyncs). This means almost every feature of both mods doesn't work, from stuff as complicated to boarding and the government/influence mechanics, to stuff as simple as build bar filters and the basics of the era system. We will hopefully do a stripped-down version for multiplayer campaign as a submod in the future."

What if you make a sub-mod and remove from the mod what will interfere with the multiplayer? I'm sure it's much more fun to play against a human than against an AI. I've been playing GC multiplayer for a while with a friend and it's fun. But I also want to play this online GC mod.

We won't do this, but you're welcome to.
There are some EAW mods suposedly supporting multiplayer i.e. with rather limited changes compared to the base game if talking mods. But you would need to google for that, I think one old version of Thrawn's revenge (2.3.3. or so maybe ?) did support multiplayer but who knows after the latest patches to the base game. Just google "EAW multiplayer mods" and good luck :)

Sorry, but I have no knowledge of coding or creating mods. But what if you collaborate with the developers of the Republic at War mod? In their mod, multiplayer GC works well. I understand that the focus is different now, but maybe in the future? I think the larger your team, the easier it will be to do this and therefore I suggested that you work together with other mod developers who have a multiplayer GC

Thrawn 2,3.3 and 3.4 and RaW.

Our mod is far more complex than RAW. We have thought through our options and will not be working on multiplayer for the reasons I have outlined. I have nothing more to say on the matter.

It is very hard to believe that you will not have more to say on this matter, considering that EVERY DAY this same question is asked in the comment section ;)

It's very sad that you made this decision. As for me, the future is in games with the RTS genre in multiplayer.
