Detector Issues
Decided to start a discussion with screenshots as to not flood the general comments section.

The UCH Inhibitor seems to show up fine so I used that as a starting point.

To the South of the inhibitor was a POI. Here at 400-500 meters the detector would not "ping" this POI.

I had to move this close for the detector to discover the POI, but it still did not show the name/distance ping that disappears after X seconds.

I manually added a map marker to get the actual distance.

Spinning the HV around and using the detector you can see the inhibitor showed up fine.

To the East of the I found a derelict HV. I'm around 200m from the HV, but as you can see there is no "ping". Normally for an undiscovered object I would expect to see "<?> XXXm" above, similar to what you see on the inhibitor here.

At about 115m the HV detector displayed the proper ping information.

It may be that only the randomly generated POIs/wrecks are affected. It's hard to say with the destroyed fort because you spawn there, but the inhibitor and the comms tower from the mission seem to ping fine.

Thank you for the detailed report! I made some changes, which will hopefully fix or alleviate this problem.

More details, for anyone who is interested in the behind-the-scenes work: Some people call this the "detector range" or "scan range" or "ping". The detector itself does have a range, but this problem is specific to how the playfield is configured. There are many playfield directories in the scenario. For each planet, you will see a file called playfield_static.yaml, in each planetary playfield subdirectory. For the starting planet, the directory is JS_DesertStarter. The POI's and the HV's are spawned randomly from groups. These groups have two settings called MapDistance and HudDistance, which are relevant here. Previously, I had MapDistance=500 and HudDistance=100 set for both POI's and HV's. Now I have removed MapDistance/HudDistance from POI's, and I have MapDistance=0 for HV's, in the next version. These new settings match what was in Star Salvage. Once the new version is released, give it a try and let me know what you think. I'm happy to adjust it as needed.

Appreciate the feedback and details. I have some familiarity with the files and tools involved. Oddly enough I think I dove into that world in order to give more detailed bug reports for Star Salvage. Since then I tend to do do a few edits I prefer on most scenarios I play.

Your videos on creating new wrecks for SS are how I found your YouTube channel back then and wound up subscribing.

Thanks again and happy New Year!
