Moving items between floors / elevators?

I've seen a few discussions on elevators and I accidentally got it to work once with the whole renaming system, but never again. Has anyone been able to consistently figure out a way to move items between floors without manually putting them in pawns inventory and carrying them piece by piece up each individual floor?
