Ladder on top of Path?
Hey there!
First things first: I friggin love this mod. I really can't play the game without it.

To my question:
Currently, the ladder comes with a build in path below it, which makes it impossible to build on top of an existing path. This can produce issues if you want to build a ladder where an important route is going through, because you have to cut the path in order to place the ladder, potentially cutting off multiple buildings until the ladder is finished.

TL;DR: Is there anyway to make the ladder be buildable on top of an existing path, as to not disrupt the route?

The problem with that is that I would like to keep the downside of blocking one way at the bottom. That is currently only possible doing it the way that it's currently done. But I do have to be honest and say that I haven't looked at the possibilities since update 3 or something, so somethings might have changed regarding that, so that it might be easier possible.

Hey there! thanks for the reply!
If the path is required to block the ladder side, then it should stay that way, but if you like to revisit the code and see whether you could make it work without the path below, that would be awesome.

EDIT: Alternatively maybe a way to make it buildable on top of a path, by auto-deleting the path it's build on top of it?

Either way, thank you so much for this mod, it really is an essential item for the - or at least my - game.

you could just temporarily build a path around where the ladder would go so the path would be complete whilst it was being made, then delete that same path.

Sure I can, but I tend to build rather narrow settlements and more often that not, there is no space to bring a path around.
Granted, most of the time, having to disconnect a path and wait for the ladder to be build isn't a big issue.

My request is about QoL and not about an actual game-halting problem.

I came to request a couple of features, one is to be able to place the ladder on a path without deleting it first and the second is automatically have a path on the top of the ladder. This would eliminate two steps, having to delete a path underneath and then add a path above. I see now from the description that both are impossible without giving up the ladder obstruction. Fascinating.

You actually don't have to put a path on top of the ladder. The top already counts as a path, so pathing connects even without placing a path on top.

yes, because platforms work, maybe you could do it like that?

This is now implemented so I will close the discussion.
