Armor Ramps [By UncleSte]

Block Seams/edges
Hey UncleSte. Love your mod, like so many others. I really think it should be included in the base game.

However, I recently have been trying to use your blocks to create more gradually sloped, aesthetically pleasing stations. For that, they are working brilliantly... except for one thing:

Allow me to elaborate. Here is a simple row of vanilla blocks:

Here are those blocks with a vanilla ramp on top, then another vanilla block, then a vanilla ramp on top of that:

As you can see, the slope is seamless. Only the edges have, well, edges.

If I shift one of the vanilla ramps over, you get an edge where the normal block and the ramp block meet:

This is all well and good. Now let's look at how your blocks look when attached to vanilla blocks.

Here are some normal, vanilla blocks with two of your ramps on top:

as you can see, their is a "seam" or edge in the middle of the slope. This edge appears to be clipping from the vanilla block below it. Additionally, the sides of the blocks have seems where your ramps meet vanilla blocks, as well.

Here I have made a platform, perhaps for landing spacecraft, using sloped blocks sideways. This is one side made using vanilla ramps:

And here is the side made using your ramps:

As you can see, the edges where your ramps meet the vanilla blocks are not being told that they should be meshed seamlessly, to create a natural, cohesive look. Instead, the vanilla blocks think that they are not adjacent to anything, and thus render an edge.

Here's the whole platform for comparison:

Here's and example of two larger ramps made side-by-side with vanilla ramps (left) and your ramps (right) to give you an idea of how a large ramp construction with vanilla blocks is supposed to look and how it could look rather jarring with the protruding edges under your blocks:

And vanilla from the side:

And yours from the side:

Again, I love your mod and I did not create this lengthy post to tear it apart. I did it to help, because I really think this should be integrated into the main game, but in order for that to happen, this issue should probably be taken care of.

Thanks again for the blocks!

I agree, it makes my small-big ships look all messy.

Use the Armor Without Edges Replacement mod. It will make a world of difference. You just can't use the crappy 1x1x1 slopes that make a 2x1x1 slope (the ones Keen put into the game) because they will still have the edge on them, but if you are useing Uncle Ste's Armor Ramps mod that won't matter becuase it has a 2x1x1 block in it.
