Low fps from zombies from one of the recent updates - FIXED
Hello, my server has been having lots of fun with the bandits but we suddenly got very low fps with one of the updates from the four days.

Not exactly sure which day it was but it was recent. I narrowed it down to the bandits mod making zombies lower people's fps by large amounts.

I tested 1080p vanilla zoomed out with 500 zombies on screen, got 72fps while the same thing with only the bandits mod enabled, it was 16fps.

Tested on a 13900K 64GB 4090 computer with 6GB allocated to zomboid.

The latest update raised the fps in the 500 zombies testing scenario from above to 30fps

Alright, so the tuning helped. 30 seems descent with 500 zombies

This is on a top end computer so unfortunately the average person would be getting like 10 to 15 fps when they visit Louisville and see those 500 zombies with the current bandits mod enabled.

Sadly I had to remove bandits from my main server.

The new persisting bandits is a gamechanger though. I'm making a second server with bandits about the military successfully killing all the zombies and taking over almost all of the map. They have orders to wipe out all the remaining survivors which includes the players in case they spread the infection.

This mod is quite complicated so nothing comes for free. Right now it is quite optimal and uses various tactics to reduce computation powrr. However I think that I can make it better because I can read the fps value in rhe game and if it is below gives threshold I can reduce the number of computations even more. This adaptive approach would be client side so everyone should get optimal performance. The drawback will be that bandits reflexes will drop a little

The fps from zombies was very good until around 4 days ago, I'm not exactly sure which day but suddenly one zombie reduced my fps the same as fifteen or more zombies.

I think it's probably a good idea to test zombie fps of the previous versions that came out the last 7 days so you know exactly which update caused zombies to go from very good performance to very bad to narrow down what change caused the zombie fps issue.

The only previous version of the mod I have is from September 2 so I'll see what I can find using java profilers.

I version the code so I know exactly the reason. Check now please and let me know how it works for you.

Update on performance, now testing at 150% zoom 1080p with the same 500 zombies.

Vanilla is 105fps, with bandits it's 84 fps, so now it's only a 20% fps drop from vanilla zombies.

Thanks for all your hard work on the mod, now bandits can be back on my servers to terrorize my players c:
