[B42/B41] Bandits NPC (v2)
Lildoo Nov 2, 2024 @ 6:10pm
[FIXED]After 200+hrs server run Bandits are now all zombies...no changes were made
EDIT: I found how to fix. See below.

After a fantastic 200+ hrs run with Bandit mod they all now spawn as zombies. No new mods were added or changes made. All guard post npc are zombies too.

Starting a new save works fine, but if it just happens again...

I first noticed it when pressing 'g' key for the guardpost. The green square appeared but the yellow square would not appear or place. Any bandits that spawned were all zombies.

After a few minutes the yellow guardpost squares I had tried to place all appeared at once and the bandits spawned fine. A few minutes later the guardpost would not place again and bandits were again spawning as zombies. It has since stayed this way on this save.

Would love to know if there is a way to fix this 200+ hr save and if not im afraid of starting a new save only for the same thing to happen again at some time...

EDIT I ran the debug guide and it skipped line 1232 and landed on line 1236. If this means anything...and gave a connection to server lost...

If anyone reading this is worried about the bandits in their current game suddenly spawning as zombies all the time.
Make sure you dont place too many guard posts. Its the only thing I did different. I had many active npc guards posts and maybe this brakes the bandit spawning code.

[HOW TO FIX] Fix that worked for me: Delete the global mod data file in your save file. This fixed it for me.

Yes you can delete global_mod_data.bin file, thats what I wanted to suggest too. Make a copy before you delete it just in case.
what does global_mod_data.bin used for? is it safe to delete on my dedicated server with already 800 in game days running?
so deleting the global_mod_data.bin messed up our server. some mods also use that file to store player data for example "Server Points mod"

I hope you made the copy as I suggested. Also did removing the file made the bandits spawn?

@Salty you have a mod(s) conflicting with how bandits spawn. Deleting the global mod data is very unlikely to fix this...

So the problem is definitely related to global mod data. Both guardposts and bandits use global mod data as data storage. It seems there is a huge lag on data transfer between server and clients. I believe the spawned zombies will become bandits after a while the same way guardposts you tried to add appeared later.

Global mod data is a shared file for all mods. It can be this mod but also other mod that inflated the file too much so that it becomes a problem when transfering.
@Slayer. any chance you're gonna fix this issue with the next update? deleting our global_mod_data.bin file right now is not the best option for our server. thanks!
