2. It's also about knowing what you're looking for. Most stuff is nearly destroyed so it's difficult to recognise. Shelving, Lockers, Freight, any kind of seat or cockpit. Stuff also stacks so look up. Also any block that can give you access to the control panel will generally reveal stuff you can't see without digging in. Everything's barren, but a lot of it is hiding something.
3. No idea! I walk around with the alt key pressed and it lets me see stuff better, but I tend to react instantly to a blip and turn, and screenshot. Broken down vehicles don't give blips.
4.
- When driving, zoom out and keep looking around everywhere for stuff that seems out of place.
- Always look at everything with a grinder or welder in your hands, you'd be surprised by what stuff is made of.
- Build a crane as soon as you can.
- When a blip pops, park, get out, turn to it, and check direction. Then get in and turn your rover.
- Don't be shy to repair anything with an inventory, grinding it down may see the stuff fall through the floor.
- Don't be shy to grind stuff down to dig into broken things. Even broken vehicles have a means of propulsion and functional batteries.
- Splitsie skips a lot, he knows exactly what he's looking for, but even he is skipping things. Don't copy this behaviour, but really take the time to dig.
- Grab every computer, metal grid, power cell, and motor you can get your hands on
It's listed on the MES scrapyard mod description as a link (or one of them MES mods anyway!), it's a mod as well... I didn't make any changes to any mod configs, that MES settings thingy does it (I have no idea how to lol)
MES Scrapyard Settings is this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2960754741
So, I popped on last last night to try playing it again and it downloaded something from the workshop when i continued the game.
When I got into the game, signals started popping up and were staying visible almost 3 times longer.
When I was getting to locations things were actually spawned in and my game is going quite nicely now... I've got a bunch of small cargo containers and am loaded with junk. lol.
This modpack is wonderfully infuriating and I'm enjoying learning it all immensely.
@andywht - are the settings something I can do to an already in progress game, or is it something that I really should start a fresh game for?
Yes, you can add it to your current game, it will affect new spawns only. BTW, I play without it atm, so no idea how it changes the gameplay. In case you try it, please feedback, so others know what to expect.
From what I understand you're suppose to spawn the planet yourself? Though I have no clue how to do so. I think that seems to be my only problem though is spawning on the planet.
Ah I see. I was under the impression you just start the world up as the Solar System start in custom, not that it came with its own scenario. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
You are very welcome!
