I like the idea of needing bone for plants etc, but is the drop rate supposed to be so low, and the giant skeletons so few? I feel like the amount of bone needed per solution which you need two of per plant and 2 per growing block is kind of high for what the drops are.

There's some planets with lots of bones, for example dead planets.
Thanks, I found a lot on Delta 4. Something bad happened there....
One of the ways I found to get Nutrient Solution is to buy Growing Plots and then Deconstruct them.

Increased drop amount (relative to size) of bones from relevant creatures for the next update.
Terrain skeletons' size varies wildly based on deco setting afaik. A big skeleton in one biome may be a tiny skeleton in another. Drops for those don't care about the size of the deco asset.

Wish we could set a multiplier on drop quantity and hp in the playfield files, so it could be set on a biome per biome basis. That would be nice.
There are POIs on most dead planets that are filled with steel planting boxes, more than you would ever need. Kill the core, place salvage core and loot 100s of them. The POI is not marked but looks like a large collapsed greenhouse.
