SV Roles and possible alterations?
I want to start like so many do, by thanking you for amazing work in this scenario. I played Re1 since it was released and Re2 has seen so much work put into it as well.. thank you!

Towards the end of Re1 I was leaning heavily on SVs and most of my enjoyment was through them, I was shattered when Re2 saw such a downgrade for what SVs could do. I find the cpu limitations makes larger SVs difficult to as so much cpu goes into propulsion.

Do you foresee any changes for SV's? What Role do you feel SVs now serve in the game? Apologies if this has already been discussed, I looked through the forum but did not seen anything akin to this. If this has been discussed there is no need to answer, I only ask to be pointed to the discussion. Thank you once again for all the amazing work.

I am new to RE but I am finding the restrictions on the SV frustrating and that I am being forced into building a CV. Not being able to attack POIs on starter worlds with an SV is a strange design choice.

The next update will significantly reduce the amount of CPU consumed by the larger SV and HV thrusters.
Aside from having typically less troops, turrets and/or more blindspots, a starter zirax POI is no different from a T1 zirax POI anywhere else in the galaxy. They are fully beatable with a starter-level SV, but only with a starter COMBAT SV. You cannot ever take a miner or freighter into a battle at any point in RE2 and expect to come out victorious.
You're also not gonna be able to do much in the way of "brawling" against a POI in a starter SV; with hit-and-run being the most effective without the shield capacity and weapons of a later SV.
An HV will take out the starter planet POIs pretty easily with a few light cannons.

Thank you Vermillion! That puts a lot of hope back into my SV designs. I love the fact that you have made the roles much more specific as opposed to one craft does it all, and I feel having the thrusters cpu drain reduced will greatly improve this for SV specific roles. Thank you for taking the time to respond and for all the awesome work you both put into this game.

ThrusterSV2x5JetT3: 800 > 720 CPU

ThrusterSV3x7JetT1: 800 > 500 CPU
ThrusterSV3x7JetT2: 1200 > 750 CPU
ThrusterSV3x7JetT3: 1600 > 1000 CPU

ThrusterSV3x10JetT1: 1200 > 750 CPU
ThrusterSV3x10JetT2: 1800 > 1125 CPU
ThrusterSV3x10JetT3: 2400 > 1500 CPU

ThrusterSV3x13JetT1: 1600 > 1000 CPU
ThrusterSV3x13JetT2: 2400 > 1500 CPU

Phenomenal, thank you for the reveal... it should make larger SV's much more feasible.. Any chance of having AM Warp drive make a comeback too? :)

yeah I know, I just spent a good 1-200 hours making new builds for RE2 so my toddler tantrum is likely an isolated event. SVs need a boost anyway, every time I try to use one of my combat SVs I just park it and use an HV instead.

There will also be the Advanced Core (+7500 CPU for HV/SV & +150,000 CPU for CV/BA) in the next update, which you can use to replace your main core.

Glorious! Thank you for this update Vermillion. Even without changes SVs can definitely go against POI's, Ive used HVs and SVs effectively, and both have a different feel to them... Im thinking decreasing the CPU drain for thrusters and adding this advanced core may give SVs more functionality in space- I look forward to playing around with different configs on my larger SV designs.
Is there any chance to get an info about when the next update is coming (in weeks). Update often requires fresh starts so it would be nice to know that.

Want to finish the new faction super-POI before I push an update. Should hopefully finish it tomorrow.
It's big, and it's for HVs to drive around inside and mow down enemies.

Well, it is still in beta and I'm sure some of the CV builders have had to make design changes because of balancing. Be happy that they are making larger SVs more of a possibility!
Also want to echo the thank you for Reforged Eden 1 and now 2. so much fun!
