Reforged Eden 2 Beta
Zirax Space Stations
Am I doing something wrong? I went to an Orbital Station, wiped out the turrets on the outside. Shelled the hell out of a side of the base and did....4K? With 40 Heavy Railgun rounds?

Found a hole that got blown open when a turret went and the mini sentries inside are....immune to damage?

Is there a setting messed up or something on the server I am on? I was sort of hoping to be able to tag some of these stations and clear them out. But it seems like they are functionally immune to damage. I made a mad dash to the core. Did the hacking and got some data but the Core itself was also immune to damage?

That's... odd? How did I kill all the turrets? My own turrets were still randomly shelling the base. I don't understand. X_x

does it have a chevron symbol on the map? those have admin cores and only certain parts are destructible.

Shield penetration. Some weapons will penetrate the shield and do damage to the turrets without bring down the shield.

The shield probably regenerated after you stopped shooting the base.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give it another go maybe it bugged.

To respond to a few things. I don't think it had a Chevron? I'll have to double check though.

As for Shield Penetration, I had 6 Medium Laser Turrets and 8 Medium Cannon Turrets that kept hitting the base. Even after I hopped out of the cockpit and ran inside. That's why I don't understand how it possible could have been the shield regenerating.

Also I thought if the shield was up it'd have a % near it's name? That's what it had when I pulled up to it. Either way, maybe something bugged I'll give it another try next time I play.

You said you were using railguns, a high damage per shot with 10% shield penetration, probably went through a tone of ammo before the shields dropped taking out all the turrets but they are more than capable of doing so. Orbital bases also have internal shield generators that will start to recharge after ~10 seconds of not taking any damage.

For the orbital stations and solar arrays, a good strategy is to drop the shields however works best for you, then move look down on the top of the station and using fixed weapons, shoot through the gold pyramid in the center of the main structure, the core is just below that. You will want to get into the core room soon with the solar array as you will destroy the main loot container in the process and will want to retrieve the dropbox before it despawns,

I guess I should have been more clear. I was using Heavy Railguns as my primary weapon, but had a bunch of medium turrets ( a split between cannons and lasers) firing on the base constantly (I think they were trying to hit a generator or something inside.)

I could also literally see the % ticking down to 0 and disappearing completely when it hit 0. I then unloaded the shells I mentioned and did virtually no damage. Starting to think it was just bugged or something, either way I switched off from Railguns since after a few hours of testing in creative they just don't seem to be the style of weapon for me.

I do appreciate the tip though! I wound up doing a lot of vertical attacks when I was still looting ground POIs with an SV. Seems to be a good tactic against the AI.

The two POIs I mentioned still have a few turrets that will be able to hit you on a vertical attack so you will need to dodge or be able to take a few hits, but the main benefit with these two is that the core location is relatively easy to see from a distance and only a few blocks in. This allows you to disable the POI with many of the turrets (including several imperial) still intact for loot.

Gotcha. I am in the slow and tedious process of remaking the ship. I had an RTG I placed on this one. So I can't just scrap it and refactory a new ship. That's ok though! Once I've switched over to Xenosteel I can fight the legacy a bit more effectively and hopefully get some QPs for upgrades. Appreciate all the info.
