Left 4 Dead 2

Cold Front (Part 1)
Kyle's Review of "Cold Front" - 5/5
Ultra impressive in every way. 5/5 stars.

Without exaggeration, Cold Front might be one of the best custom campaigns ever made. This mod does everything a custom campaign can do to distinguish itself, plus extra things I didn't even know were possible. Snowy cities have never looked more gorgeous, the level design is well paced and easy to navigate, the difficulty is balanced, the Survivors are chatty, and there's a new melee weapon as a bonus.

What really puts this campaign above the rest is how fresh and new it feels. Metric tons of custom assets bring the wintery atmosphere to life. Programming wizardry has added the most advanced NPC in the game's history. The multiple endings are also genius — the finale starts as a gauntlet and ends as a holdout if you don't run fast enough.

I could gush for hours, but the bottom line is that anyone who likes L4D2 will love this campaign. The effort and creativity in Cold Front is staggering, and it's already one of the all-time greats. Just... wow!

Thanks for the review! I'm really glad you enjoyed the campaign, even moreso since this was actually the first campaign I properly worked on as level designer, so I was quite nervous for the release to say the least lol, plus everyone else who contributed put in tremendous amounts of effort.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking out the "archive" folder in the source files, which has some of the early stages of each map, even featuring the finale's first ever blockout and some cut ideas.
That's one thing I'd like to do better for future projects: Preserve more of the process, cause it's a pretty interesting thing to look back on.

I did check out the real funny folder! And I totally understand wanting to archive more of the development process. I never do that with my own mods and sometimes I regret it.
