What exactly do you mean by this? Many projectiles/NPCs/Dust? Something else?
Is it only an issue with Motion Smoothing enabled?
Are you using color lighting?
Do you have any of the mod's optimizations enabled?
Also I'm pretty sure the FPS counter was showing incorrect values. I was definitely not hitting 144fps despite the counter displaying it.
Lighting: Color
Quality: High
Motion Smoothing: ON
Limit FPS: 120
Optimizations: OFF
Result: +- 105 fps on Sunked Sea (Standing still)
Same settings but enabled Background Tile Optimization
Result: 115-120 fps on Sunked Sea (Moving, no projectiles)
But if you killing a giant clam, for example, the speed slows down to 100 frames per second.
Overall I think the biome and Terraria's tile rendering just isn't fast enough to hit 144fps consistently at minimum zoom.
Exactly the game is very unoptimized that's why we need terraria 2
