High FPS Support
Strange mod work in Calamity
When there is a lot of action on the screen, the fps drops a lot. A great example is Sunken Sea, when you just enter it you lose between 20 and 60 fps.

The device is powerful by Terraria standards, and without your mod in the same conditions I get 120 fps (but, alas, do not feel smooth, with your mod I rest from high frequency).

Ready to communicate with you and provide debug information!

"When there is a lot of action on the screen, the fps drops a lot."
What exactly do you mean by this? Many projectiles/NPCs/Dust? Something else?

Is it only an issue with Motion Smoothing enabled?
Are you using color lighting?
Do you have any of the mod's optimizations enabled?

I can look into this later, but it would help to know what to look for.

for me its somting with the mod itself none of the configs it ussaully happens with 60hz even with motion smoothing disabled

I still get performance drops in both of the underwater biomes with this mod disabled, although it's not noticeable since I'm still limited to less FPS than I could get with the mod on.

Also I'm pretty sure the FPS counter was showing incorrect values. I was definitely not hitting 144fps despite the counter displaying it.

nvm it was my cpu settings BTW i meant all time

Lighting: Color
Quality: High
Motion Smoothing: ON
Limit FPS: 120
Optimizations: OFF

Result: +- 105 fps on Sunked Sea (Standing still)

Same settings but enabled Background Tile Optimization
Result: 115-120 fps on Sunked Sea (Moving, no projectiles)
But if you killing a giant clam, for example, the speed slows down to 100 frames per second.

* Even on the surface with a lot of enemies and projectiles - fps is not lost at all. Maybe it's the lighting

By the way, also in the Abyss very much drops fps even with the optimizations of the mod

Yeah I profiled the Sunken Sea and the tile rendering performance just isn't that great -- due to how the entire screen is lit up at once and filled with tiles. There also appears to be a bug in one of Calamity's lighting modifications that contributes to some of the performance hit.

Overall I think the biome and Terraria's tile rendering just isn't fast enough to hit 144fps consistently at minimum zoom.

Interesting. However, your modification is gold. With it, you can experience the high screen frequency in Terraria (Motion Smoothing). It would be very cool if something like this was implemented in Re-Logic and added to vanilla Terraria, Thank you!!!!

My PC is kind of bad, how can I optimize it with the mod?
Stellar  [developer] Jan 25, 2024 @ 7:20pm
There are a couple settings in the mod config under the "Optimizations" section. They are off be default, enabling them should improve your game's performance, but they can sometimes cause visual artifacts.

might be a problem with another mod u using or your drivers idk, i have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pc my terraria with like 40 mods stays at 40-57 fps and when i get to the sunken sea it justs stays like it is

Hi, I have a high-end pc. 4070ti, 7900x, 32gb 5200 mhz, 980 pro. Play calamity and infernum. I have a 2k 170 hz monitor. I'm here to say that terraria is not optimized. above world sure I get 170 fps but underground hell sunken sea boss fights DOG infernum no, no one is going to get consistent fps. Do not expect your fps to stay at 120, 144, whatever. It's not going to happen, and it doesn't happen with my pc.

Exactly the game is very unoptimized that's why we need terraria 2
