Hi, as I replied on the comments, unfortunately my mod doesn’t effect and or touch anything that alters battle AI decisions or such. Try using TROM which is a great Mod too.
Like I noted before, the camera difference is definitely there. If I were to opine, I'd say "remove the camera change", leaving that to a dedicated mod for whomever wants it. For very picky reasons, I prefer to go with the vanilla camera limitations, but totally understand ppl who want the Zoom out +. In other words, I'd love to experience your mod without it. So when you launch the next version, let me know? :)
To the more misterious (possible) unintentional feature...
TOO MANY modders & players in TW community set their minds to create a more challenging experience, including in overhaul mods, like DEI (for Rome II), etc, slowing down the combate so it becomes "more tactical". On paper, that could work well on PVP. But in the TW series, slower combats in PVE will ALWAYS benefit the player, and by a great margin, thus breaking the game balance and letting the player win even in 1:3 odds.
Now to your mod: I might be mistaken, but I noticed it more after DEactivating your mod than the opposite. The vanilla battles felt easier because I had much more time to react while my light infantry held the line until my cav came to flank and win the battle, even in very bad odds.
Like I said, could be a mistake of mine, but it did seem like your mod's battles were a little faster, and as a result, very finely tuned to what I wanted the vanilla to be.
3K is naturally slow and consequently easy. But line in other TW workshops, there a no mods here that make it faster, only slower. It would be too much to ask of you to intentionally make a mod that fine tunes the combat to be faster. But if you do the test and you're able to confirm my suspicion, could you please turn that into an official feature? perhaps a second mod?
sorry about the long text :/
Understandable about the camera, which can be removed back to vanilla. Currently I need to understand how to upload the new version, with a new PC I am having issues updating the current steam page with a new package from my hardrive and using TW Modding tools, I find TW Modding trips me up with these steps so I am trying to find the time to look back into that properly and the new version can be uploaded.
In regards to battles, difficulty still affects their strategies and reaction time too, however my mod removes the bonuses they receives across most difficulties excluding legendary. I have not noticed that to be the case what you are mentioning, as there are so many variables as to what can cause that.
Are you running any mods like TROM or such?
Yes, I see the better strategies being used by the AI in your mod while removing their artificial stats bonus. which is much appreciated. But The thing about infantry holding out for less time... really is a mistery. I'm gonna do a custom battle test right now, with as few variables as possible. I'm using these mods atm:
"Recruited unique character can use their special units"
"MTU ADD-ON: Level 30 & 300 stats"
"[Behave] Character Events"
"Better Diplomacy"
Make them Unique 3.3 (Wu Anguo)
"Imrpoved Campaign Map Performance"
"Fairplay AI"
"The Gathering: Core Object 1.2.2"
"Sun's Heroism Tweaks"
My mod does not touch any Unit Stats, very unusal. Also do remember Mod Load order will matter, Some need to be top, mine is usually last, but Better Diplomacy should take priority and be below my mod for example.
I Mainly use TROM and a few others myself without issues. I also use Gathering and Campaign Performance Mods.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the feedback (:
Some positions will be harder, but I haven’t experience that myself hmm. Although I play with mods like Trom a lot of the time too when testing compatibility.
Not sure as characters like Liu Dai role different personalities in game start, which mean they can act different each new game.
I’ll have to test more across those scenarios and make some changes. But a lot of factors to check, it’s properly the personalities on a new game for minor lords, but I’ll give after runs a try soon too.
