Description
  • Overview
    A personal mod of mine that I decided to upload in case anyone else would enjoy it. This Mod makes changes to the AI, alongside removing the more over the top cheats and bonuses across all difficulty settings, making the AI play fairer. This does not make the AI harder, as it is a different experience for those who may enjoy a more random and roleplay-style play.

  • Features
    • Eliminates Bonuses/Handicaps for the AI in the Campaign and Battles across all difficulties. However, Easy is still easier for anyone who wants to enjoy a more relaxed time. Legendary retains it's difficulty still for those wanting the challenge.

    • Battle AI Bonuses removed - The AI now uses better tactics on higher difficulties without the unit stat/morale bonuses. The AI and the Player now play equally across all difficulties, excluding easy, where the Player retains their battle bonuses for players wanting an easier time of tactical battles.

    • Removed the AI Bias towards the Player in the campaign across all difficulties. The Player is treated based on factors such as your threat level, opposing views and relations with other lords despite the difficulty setting, etc.

    • Character's loyalty is no longer negatively affected by higher difficulty settings.

    • AI Potential streamlined/randomised for all factions alongside random minor faction personalities. This means minor factions are not penalised as opposed to major factions, making all factions from Minor to Major now hold their own better. Each game now plays out more varied with faction potential randomised at game start along with minor lord personalities.

    • Smaller changes and tweaks in line with the above points.

  • F.A.Q

    • Compatibility/Load Order
      Achievements still work from my tests. Best results by having it last in your load order but behind other AI mods that you want to have priority. The mod has been tested and is working with TROM(Load First), Hercules AI(Load Last), Alternative Faction Flags & Colours Reborn, Puzzle illustration, Campaign Performance Improved mod, Better AI Diplomacy(Load Last), and the Bug Fix Mod(Load Last).

    • Issues/Suggestions
      Testing Mods can take some serious time for me between work/life balance. I have opened a discussion thread for the mod for any balancing, feedback and suggestions. As it is not the Vanilla experience, some issues could arise. However, I'll do my best to fix any problems/balancing concerns.

    • Does Difficulty Now Matter?
      It still does. Easy is still easier, and the AI's decision-making is still affected by the difficulty setting above easy for the campaigns and battles, alongside if you're playing Romance or Records, with Legendary still being more difficult. This mod provides a different experience.

    • What's Next?
      I'll continue to make changes where needed with a few further additions. But for the most part, I only need to make some small adjustments and overhauls, hopefully leading me to porting this in time to my other favourite TW Titles.

      This mod was originally made for friends and myself in multiplayer, the icon and art are AI generated as I needed something placeholder for the mod. I mainly use it with the TROM mod and Hercules AI Mod ect, if playing Vanilla, Campaign Performance and the Bug Fix Mod.

@Hawk - Hey thankyou, I have not done so yet and have no plans or time for it. But there are other mods for that, I think Warlords AI is what you’re looking for, there may be others. Otherwise I think if you crank Battle Dif to the max it may still be the normal. But I have not checked in abit sorry.

Hey bro great mod. Is there any chance you could seperate a campaign AI mod and a battle AI mod? Cause im really just interested in a campaign AI mod. :D

@nullpo - Yeah and since minor factions don’t get auto resolve disadvantage anything can happen early game to shift things up ect. Soon enough I’ll make some further changes to the mod, also super hard with so many different time periods to balance sometimes, enjoy (:

Just play a new campaign with higher difficulty. Yeah I think with this mod you need to start on very hard at least. This time the nanman and other major faction gobble up the han teritory in the south. No more stuck at changsha sun jian. Liu bei and cao cao also start taking care of nearby competitors.

@Nullpo - The Ai won't be as strong as they don't get ECO bonuses, but each time it can play out differently. But I have not had that happen to me, usually by mid game their quite competent, for vassals it applies all the same, remember minor factions personalities can be different each time around so some things play out differently. For far harder time make sure you play on Legendary, that is the best way to go.

It's been sometime since I had modded this game and the mod does as the description says, alot of bugs still exist in the base game so I can't be sure.

Try loading the Warlords AI mod after this one, that may help a lot too as that will make the Campaign AI far better from my experience and harder. Or TROM which is mainly how I play with this mod.

Hi, I have a question, does the AI threat perception extend to vassal as well? I notice when playing as Dong Zhuo the AI don't gobble the han empire teritory as usual, resulting in extremely weak major faction even in mid game. I played on Hard/Hard, changed to Very Hard mid game.

@Royale - Oh that’s okay! Give those suggestions a try, and welcome to DM me any feedback, but definitely make sure the BugFix mod is on, or if using TROM be mindful as it already has that integrated in.
