A review of a single player skirmish using SURM
Just a few comments from a gameplay perspective regarding single player skirmish I played lasting a good 2 hours total. I played with a custom British faction from the 1st armoured deck against 27th russian deck. I won with 6000 points hitting the limit in destruction mode. Ruskies got 1760 points against me.

They were pretty aggressive and i only managed to hold 2 sectors for the duration, not breaking out much and being conservative. they did some really effective pushes with t-80bvs and they were super tough, rifles in cover with law 80mm were very good against their side armour getting 3 t-80s along the road they were focusing their main push from. they were also trying to flank around the other side of me with helicopters and occasional armour and infantry, which is why i was conservative in pushing in many directions.

I had air superiority for the duration of the game and found myself to have jets in the sky for most of the round with time for a few resupplies. Tornado's seemed dominant in the air but my harriers didn't fair greatly, i think better route planning for CAS could've saved me some harriers.

I found mechanized infantry to be effective for defense and small gains of counters, i had plenty of supplies but was struggling to resupply frontlines because of constant pressure. i could've used arty smoke to cover logistics runs to be fair. my 2 105 Abbott SPGs were my saving grace because their pressure allowed me to have some breathing room and their mobility kept their counter battery ineffective.

I lost a good amount of challenger 2's. They couldn't penetrate the t-80's frontally allowing them to get groups of four within my frontal lines a few times. I then either got a flank with a law 80mm from woodlands, used attack helis or harriers to do the killing, with the challengers just managing to stop the advance, using smoke and reverse to survive.

Eventually they ran themselves dry to the 6000 point mark. I could've been much better in the counter by being more aggressive and proactive.

Thanks! It's really good for me to hear how things are (or aren't) working for people. Did the AI use much in the way of infantry? My most significant issue (of several with the AI) has been that I can't get them to properly bring up troops with transport. What difficulty did you use?

I was playing on medium difficulty. I didn't have trouble with enemies not being aggressive enough or hiding at the back of the map, if anything a bit too aggressive and continuing to waste heavy assets on the same frontal push. They used a combination of all their assets, and attacked from different angles, though mainly focused on one main route. I'm gunna change up the difficulty and see how another round plays out. All in all I liked the medium AI, do the enemy still get extra units on harder difficulty because i hate that idea lol
