Primitive Workbenches Retexture
Feedback
This is a cool feature, Here's the lengthy feedback I wrote up:

Alright! Sorry for disappearing. Lets do some feedback :)

The first thing I thought about was that there is now a stain on the butcher block, which is not dirt and cannot be cleaned, which sort of threw me off; pawns clean things. Except the butcher block apparently. I don't like textures that have dirt on them, in games where cleaning is a thing. I also really liked the little bone handle on the knife, it was a nice touch. Would like that back.

But at your request, I've reviewed all of them, so here goes:
Overall you made the leathers redder (and colours in general more vibrant), which stings my eyes a little. I really liked the washed out colour scheme. However, the size of the leather sheets have been increased, which I approve of, that looks great.
The new hammers look too simple, I miss the little string that was there before. It made it feel structural and thought-through. The new chisels are better, though: they actually look like chisels :)

I am in general a sucker for clutter, and I feel like there's less of that after the update.

A few specific notes:

The research table has lost its writing tools, which I feel is necessary for any self-respecting scientist. I also miss the written-on leather sheet, now everything is on stone. Would like some variety, maybe a few rolled-up leather scrolls. It's good that the tablets are different colours, though, it makes it look like they're from different places. For this reason, I give the little tablet table 5 stars, looks great.

The styling table is ... flatter?? Somehow? I think its in the water, it looks like vector graphics now, rather than painting. It doesn't feel like water anymore, and the bowl doesn't feel like a bowl. I also think the old knife was a lot prettier, the shape of this one offends me, I'm not sure why. Autism goes brrr, I guess.
Also, why are there skulls on it? I feel like more different pots would make more sense. A few hairpins, maybe? Piece of string? A couple of hair-beads? A few sticks of charcoal?

The ranged weapon table has lost the string. It wasn't a lot to begin with, but I feel it's diminished. What's there now looks like parts for arrows. Maybe add a pile of feathers? And it needs the string back, and a little pot/block of wax for sealing, well, everything in bowyery. And a whole pile of different knives and stuff, for whittling and whatever else.

For the melee bench, I once again miss the tools. And why are there arrow heads on it? Elongate them and make them spear- or axeheads. The swordblade has a giant nick in it. That's--- what? People don't make things that already pre-broken, that's a modern phenomenon. Add more tools of all kinds, and maybe a few lengths of leather wrappings?

The Herbalist table: I can't decide whether I like the little table or not. Putting a couple of really big, sturdy urns on the floor next to the table really speaks to me, but the table is so cute. I'm probably leaning toward the bigger urns, though. This one also really suffers from the colour thing. The green really stings my eye, it's so intense, and it has the same kind of flatness as the styling table, it looks like vector graphics, not like art that depicts something. And the knife. Bring back the old knife, it was really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. I think it's partly just the excellent shape of the blade, and partly because the handle doesn't just end, it looks tied off with string. Anyway, I really really liked it. It was satisfying to look at. A mortar and pestle was also very fitting for this table, bring that back?

The stone cutting table looks really nice. I love that there's a stack of finished blocks at the end, and bigger unsplit ones waiting on the other side. My only note is that the two blocks on top of the table looks out of place, maybe replace them with bits of rubble? This table could also do with a hammer.

The tailoring table also looks really nice with the two rolls of leather down by the side. I like that there's a piece of actual fabric here, not just leather. However, I'm once again missing the string and my favorite knife.

The crafting table, well not a lot has changed. I think, over all, it's a better design. In this case as well, however, I preferred the old knife and hammer that was on this table. Chisel is good, though.

The beds are also more saturated. The strawbed has a weird optical issue, where the pillows looks like separate entities on top of the bed object. I think this is because the line around them is too dark, it doesn't blend like it used to.
The leather bed straw looks really dirty, why isn't it yellow in this one? It looks like the old straw that I used to muck out of the stable after the horses had pissed all over it. I wouldn't want to sleep in this bed. It looks wet. I also strongly preferred the old covers, the jagged edge of this one looks very artificial to me. I also liked that that old ones had lighter and darker patches, that looked really nice.

The loom hasn't changed that I'm able to discern, but I just wanted to say, it looks really nice :)
As does the little kiln.

I think it's good that flint received a new texture, it used to look a bit jagged in a quite un-flinty way. However, I'm not sure the new one is right, either. The new one isn't quite jagged enough, it looks too soft, like? And while the new colour is good, it doesn't match the colour of the stuff, if I were to make something out of it. Is this something a texturepack can alter? If not, I'm gonna make it conform with this new colour, using my favourite mod: RIMMSQol. I'm overdue for some new and interesting stone colours :D
Might I also suggest making bigger stacks of it into a single bigger block, rather than many smaller? Maybe with white patches of chalk still part of the outer surface? Have you ever handled a raw flint nodule? They're pretty cool, they form sort of incased in chalk which you chip off. Inside, the the surface-most layer is oxidized and typically white in colour, and inside of that, is the good flint you make tools of. Anyway, that's something to consider.

Finally, the new textures for clay and haycloth are absolutely magnificent, 10/10, no notes.

I think that's all I had to say. Sorry it ran a bit long, my head was full of thoughts. :)

Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it. Some good suggestions I think I'll use. I'll start working on that today and maybe some stuff will already change over the next few days.

Sweet, looking forward to it!

many thanks for this mod

@Tinda
Sorry for taking so long, I had this finished almost a month ago, but for some reason I just didn't upload it. Tbh. I'm not quite sure anymore which of your suggestions I actually included, so have fun finding out, I guess. That being said I included a fair bit of the stuff you suggested for the different production tables. I especially hope you'll like the new styling table.

If you still have something you think I should change feel free to comment again, it's really appreciated

Haha, no worries, I am no stranger to procrastination. I have since dipped my toes into modding myself, and honestly, while XML comes quite easy to me, drawing is HARD, and I respect the hell out you and other artists who actually are competent at it. (Also quietly hoping someone like you might care to make a rework of my own questionable textures the day I finally publish my woodless furniture mod—or would you like to do a collaboration?)

That said, looking forward to seeing what you made, will check it all out tonight when I get off work. Thanks!

Alright, I'm home!

Hell yeah, that's a nice styling table!
I'm a bit confused about the grass, but everything else belongs and fits well without being overwhelming, very nice. The water surface looks like water again! I'm glad to see the charcoal there, but perhaps that might not work. I'm pretty sure I only see they are charcoal pieces because I suggested it. They're a bit dark, as is the string, btw.

I see you have made another knife, and while it's not my old love, I think you did a good job. You captured the essence of what appealed to me about the other one; not perfectly round or straight, but also not nicked or broken. Just a natural-shaped shard of flint, very nice :)
The hammer has also gotten a bit of string at the handle, which I'm not sure what structural purpose it serves. It looks great on the knife, because one way to affix a handle on a primitive knife, is to do it the same way you attach the arrow head to the shaft, but hammers aren't made that way... The wood is going through a hole drilled in the hammer head, not the other way around. Not sure about this one.

I noticed you darkened the edges of the crafting table leather sheet. I think maybe you should do that on all of them, it looks amazing.

I'm glad to see more junk on the weapon crafting and tailoring stations, seems about the right amount. This is a space that's being used.

Also glad to see some stuff on the research stable, but I'm still missing the writing implements. Are those math sticks? Like, you make a notch in them, and use them for math stuff? Cool :)

I see what you did with the surfaces in the pots on the herbalist table. It's not a lot, but very effective, it looks like a liquid now, very nice. I still can't stand the colour, though. I think it should be darker. Not necessarily a lot, just a smidge.

Finally, I had an additional thought about the stone cutting table: The bigger blocks, which I assume are yet to be processed, look very square and perfect. I think something more boulder-like, similar to vanilla chunks would make more sense? Unless these are to be some sort of half-done middle stage? This table is already quite full of rectangles, it's kind of unsatisfying to look at, it need to be broken up by something not rectangular.
The rubble bits on it turned out great though :)

All in all, good improvements 👍
