Magic and prayers
Do i understand correctly that if i learn magic - it locks me out of ever learning prayers, and vice versa? Playing as an imperial origin mercenary currently.

Mercenary cant learn prayers, you can still get magic though.

Warrior priests have prayers but cant use magic, Damsels are the only exception that have both.

A damsel can, but she's the only career capable to.
Another question then, does priestess of Shallya companion get access to prayers? They already have a decent amount of points in Faith and Novice prayer perk is unlocked. I see her get exp in Faith, but i dont think i've seen her do any prayers during battle and i have no idea how to check her available prayer list if she has one (unlike the mage companions, since i can check their spellbooks).

She does yes, but due to a bug the companions only get access to the first prayer
