How to purify cursed regions?

I've done a lot of research and read the manual. But I still don't understand how to purify cursed regions. I received a blessing from a shrine to Sigmar, but I don't know how to purify one of these regions. Neither does the AI. The armies just die.

AI can't do it, only the player. You do it by visiting them and selecting the prufiy option, but its only temporary
