Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

The Old Realms - Core (Season of Doom)
Am I locked out of using Forest Harmony or missing something?
So I decided to try the wood elves, huge favorite in total war. Finally started getting a party going and noticed I'm losing forest harmony. Turns out the Order of the Blood Dragon stomped the wood elves in a war, took half their territory and now my harmony is somewhere at -35/day without taking the upkeep of my 1 treeman into account (if he dies it's over). So I started a guerrilla war with the vampires, defeat in detail, hit and runs. Journeyed to the empire to study books and increase my spellcasting and we're making progress, 4 of those blood suckers have been executed, so there's a future in sight where the order is dead and we can then slowly retake the lands. But wait! They decided to make peace and no the order is getting stomped by Middenland who are taking elven lands while the elves are migrating to Bretonia. We've sleeping in caves fighting the vampires and turns out we'll never get the lands back at this rate. So is there a way to not get the -5 fore harmony /day per lose settlement? I feel that I'm completely locked out of the wood elves, no increases of any kind, permanent penalty.

On it, I guess. Feels sour to only be clan rank 1 and now I have to fight every faction that captures elven settlements. But good news, the vampires are all imprisoned at Nuln so there's a chance to attrition some castles with my vast army of 60 without being interrupted.

Yeah we want to try different mechanics related to this, but it doesnt seem possible to set AI as a "preference" to take back X settlement.

As I noted in my SLIGHTLY less polite post about the issue, the best idea I have for a quick fix is making the -5s only apply to Towns/Castles and not the villages they govern, having -15 or so from every lost territory is too punishing, it should just be -5 for each until a more comprehensive solution can be made.

Good news everybody! The forest is almost fully retaken. While the vampires were imprisoned by Middenland we managed to secure Vaul's Anvil - by we I mean mostly the now ancient treeman and the supporting archers. Then while they escaped or got ransomed one by one, we managed to pick them off as they hurried to retake Vaul's Anvil in waves, and with the last decapitation all elven settlements they held went back to the elves. The only castle outside elf control is held by Middenland and while we're not even a vassal yet we surely don't want to annoy them, so we'll start training trading in hopes of diplomatically buying it back. Or maybe there's a way to destabilise it so much that it turns to chaos and we'll take it from them without a diplomatic storm.

Also as a way to bypass the negative daily forest harmony, I found that storing dryads as garrison and then taking a bunch of them at a time to the Oak of ages to retire allows for purchasing upgrades from the tree, forest harmony upkeep doesn't make them abandon the party if they're not "paid" which is nice. No chance in keeping 1500 harmony for no debuffs, but at least there's a way to keep upgrading.

Amazing mod by the way, 10/10. It's hard to express how incredible this is without writing essays. Can't wait for the dwarves!

Hope you've seen the sneak peaks on moddb ;)

Interesting read. I got a bit demotivated by the same process with the wood elves and did not have the patience to keep on. So, gratulations to OP. :)

What for me always was/is the most annoying mechanic of BL (of the many annoying things which are lacking), was the arbitrariness concerning territory. Seeing the AI taking castles somewhere away while an owned town nearby was sieged is terrible in my opinion. It would be so great if you could give a preference to defense and define settlements as core to keep.

If even your team which made this fantastic mod has found no way to code this, all hope is lost, isn't it?

It might be possible down the line, but our main focus is expanding the world and factions/races atm
