Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

The Old Realms - Core (Season of Doom)
most non-magic companions are kinda weak
fabled knights of brettonia, huntsmen, and similar characters don't perform very well in my experience. you probably have it on the to-do to add more to them already, but a temporary solution could be to just give them a large flat boost in hp, so they can do something before they die

Huntsmen are nothing special though, and knights of bretonnia should have some increased hp already, can't solve everything with just making everything an hp sponge

Yeah, magic is OP currently. I think it should be more rare. Especially offensive spells. Maybe balance it through higher cost/time. Also some ways to give items magic resistance properties would be good.

A global cooldown for all offensive spells and maybe less direct damage, instead dot/secondary effects.

Thats not how magic works, not all spells have a dot or secondary effect, only lore of fire does

Fair enough if you don't want to compromise regarding lore. Maybe consider giving AoE spells a longer cooldown. It looks and feels great when magic projectiles fly across the battlefield, but not so much when half the army dies because of one or two spells, sometimes by friendly fire.

Friendly fire can't be avoided, especially when melee lines fight, gotta tell them to stop casting then
i think huntsmen would benefit from a higher scout skill. it seems most have 60 when you get them when melee oriented classes have 200 in their melee skills. maybe i think too highly of them from total war when it comes to shooting. is it possible to give companions unique perks or careers? because letting them buff ranged bow-troops with some reload speed or accuracy beyond others would be pretty useful.

No, AI does not have careers. They buff troops based on the banner they have and in charge of a formation ( granted we still need to make many banners as we are very lacking there )
