Mage companion keeps blowing up half of my own troops in battle
Topic, I just faced 20 chaos cultists in battle and I'm pretty sure they had no magic. But I have a Lahmian companion with 100 spell skill and an AoE ability. And I'm 90% sure she keeps blowing away half my own troops in battle with her spells. I had 80 troops at the start vs the 20 cultists and I lost 30 troops, and the in-battle combat log thing said she killed a bunch of skeletons.

How do I fix this? I tried disabling spells by selecting/deselecting them in the spellbook but she still insists on casting them :( I paid 20,000 gold for that companion, I'd rather not dismiss her...

Help please!

Also, as feedback, I feel like companion spell friendly fire should be disabled. Especially if I can't actually tell them not to use spells. She's literally wiping 30-50% of my army every battle, it's pretty nuts. She does a better job killing my own troops than the enemy does.

hey! As Empire the same thing can happen but your non undead troops always only get wounded, they wont die after the battle. However as you play Vampire Counts thats a bigger problem..
How i solved it: Put your mages in a own group (like start a new group of melee infantry or cav on the start of the battle) then place them in Front of ur Frontline. If you want them to not shoot right away then press f4 so they hold fire until you tell them to do it again.
I always send my Mages in first letting them mess up the enemy and then i bring the main Force.
Or if u dont want to let them use Magic at all go into the spellbook section and activate only spells like buffs.

Magic is far too potent to make it completely risk free, so no we wont disable friendly fire.

But you can select what spells they use in the spellbook by clicking on the one you want to use, you can also tell them to stop using magic by telling them to hold fire in battle.
Haha, i just started playing this and noticed my necromancer was obliterating my minions! Good to know about the hold fire.

How do you get the mages into one group, with the dump TW slider system?

You can put all companions into the same formation by dragging them in the formation screen.
