How do scrolls work?
Are they just passive in your inventory? Do I need to interact with them in some way?

You need to select to read them, after that they are passive as time progresses, the exp you get depends on the learning bonus for the skill you're reading.

To read them, hover over them in your inventory, move to the popup and click on the magnifying glass there

Ah cool. Once you've finished them, I guess there is no reason to keep them?

Not really, but books only give exp once, so you can keep them to see which ones you've already read

It would be cool if you got a passive buff or something based on the amount of books you have read. Like an increase in XP gain rate? Or some sort of an event.

You already get exp in the skill associated with the book, even more exp would become too much.

The book itself is the reward.

Without focus points in the skill, you get like 1-2 levels. I saved up and bought all the books just to make a little library.
