I did it in 30 mins, same as a normal game of dota. If you need to save your game then... wow. Just, wow.

so you dont take it slow and take in the digital beauty of the landscape?

Ok, maybe if it becomes a little larger and starts to take more than 30-60 minutes?

Then! The developer of the custom mode would have to create a saving system that doesn't exist in the code of Dota 2. It was never needed, so it was never made. That would mean for the developer to stop updating anything about it so it is possible to save your progress. Also, there is a competitive mode meaning the map was made for two teams, like vanilla Dota! So there's no saving there! Also the save button would have to be in the Dota menu overlay, so they'd have to contact the portion of valve that develops Dota to have it added. Unless you really like bugs.

whoa man, you sound angry somehow. I was just wondering if there was an option or not, and who knows, maybe if this becomes extremely popular, Valve may decide to weigh in on it and take a little further. Thats all.

You are both right and wrong.
True, Dota does not have a save function, but you dont need to mess with the GUI and create new buttons and ask for major assistance and ask for an entire feature from Valve.
If the developer of this mode is skillful with coding, he could code a password system like some maps had back in Warcraft 3.
