1.5 is here and just in time for Halloween! The most significant change here is the removal of the lower right side of the map - Eerie Country and Fort Knox. While they are good maps, they increase the size of the game world unnecessarily and since Eerie Country is still under construction, there are some areas where this new map abruptly cuts off. So, I've elected to trimming down the map to Vanilla proportions and to instead focus on filling the existing area with more exciting locations.

The brand new LV International Airport is in and it's looking pretty cool, be sure to give it a visit! Also, a nify little mod now connects the two towns on the other side of the river - Note that there is a tiny bit of road still unfinished, this is not an oversight but a limitation, you can still pass through or even pave the last bit of road yourself!

Other notable additions are Warm Up, which lets you huddle up and trade a little exertion for warmth, Functional Appliances, which gives functionality to some machines like hotdog grills and soda fountains (works with Sapph's) and Item Story - A really cool mod that adds more possible ways for various items to spawn in the world rather than just in containers. Alongside this, two supporting mods that will let shopping carts and hand trolleys (which are already in the collection) spawn in appropriate locations!

A few people have reported issues with multiplayer since the latest update to v1.5. Now, I have had performance issues before with the mod trash & corpses, which populates the world with lots of lootable corpses, so I am guessing that ItemStory is the likely culprit for these latest problems. It's a highly ambitious mod that I'm sure will be vanilla one day - It spawns region-appropriate loot in the actual world rather than in containers. While this is super cool, it does mean there is an additional drain on resources for everywhere you go, as these items are also rendered in 3D. I haven't had any issues in Singleplayer with this, but for the sake of a performance-friendly mod list that works in both SP and MP I am removing it again.

FunctionalAppliances is another really cool mod that is still in development. Due to the very frequent updates, I've taken if off the list again. Once the kinks have been hammered out, I'll be sure to readd it.

I'm using this chance to add a fix to the world map, specifically the road leading through West Point, as well as KI5's newest vehicle and the very popular repair wall mod.

More refinements for the server files specifically. I've done the map section again from scratch to make sure there's no leftovers from older versions still in there. The spawnpoints have also been overhauled, there should now be plenty of options for you to choose from. Remember you can edit these as you please and add more spawnpoints from other mods or even define custom spawnpoints with coordinates.

ZuperCart is going back in. You won't find these in the world anymore but they have a chance to spawn in some containers such as boxes in warehouses. Have fun!

The RV Interior module for the Oshkosh military truck hasn't been behaving nicely and briefly went missing on the workshop. Also, I'm pretty sure the base mod now contains this vehicle's trailers, so I'm taking it out - easiest solution.

I've tested this version by doing a complete clean reinstall, meaning that after uninstalling the game I also deleted the install folder and the config folder in Documents. Everything is working fine for me and hosting a server works as well.

更友好的卡壳 (Better Gun Jam)

Holy hell, 1.6 is here and it's one of the largest updates so far. With this version, I went through the entire list again and looked for an opponent even more scary than the undead hordes of Kentucky - BLOAT. This is why there's more mods getting removed than added.

The most significant change is a swap from Brita's Weapons to Vanilla Firearms Expanded (VFE). While I understand that many people love Brita's (I do as well), it's an absolute resource hog in combination with its sister mod Arsenal GunFighter. They also don't always play nicely with Advances Trajectory, a mod introduced in the last big update. This unfortunately will strip the game of a few cool weapon features such as the enhanced radial menu that allowed for all sorts of neat tricks. Also, you will notice that rooting around in the various police stations of military checkpoints, the selection of weapons will be a lot more grounded. No more miniguns, chainsaws or flamethrowers, only period-accurate weapons you would actually see in an urban setting. There's also way fewer ammo types now, which will help with organizing your loot. VFE does add a few guns that aren't Vanilla, so you'll still have more new toys to play with. Also remember that Scrap Guns is still included, for those of you who prefer more exotic options.

I also decided to remove all of the vehicles from Autotsar's Tuning Atelier. They're really cool to tinker with, but they add unnecessary bloat. Many of them are also somewhat obsolete, with the fantastic selection of cars by KI5 covering pretty much every niche now. I've left Special Emergency Vehicles in despite them not having animations, because I think the immersion aspect is super cool (and adds a ton to potential RP on servers).

Jigga's Greenfire mod is going as well. It was initially only really included because it used to be a soft prerequisite for the Smoker mod, but the amount of marihuana, bongs and other accessories found everywhere is distracting and somewhat unrealistic with the huge anti-drug campaigns of the early 90s. Growing wasn't working properly anyhow.

A few tile packs have also been removed because they aren't needed anymore. Fuel API + Barrels allowed you to store gasoline in barrels, which was neat, but also pretty OP since many barrels had quite a lot of fuel in them to start with. Also, this mod was producing errors for me in some of the modded locations.

But what about the additions?

kERHUS has once again come out with a really cool mod in Armor Absorb. This adds additional functionality to much of the armoured clothing that can be found, such as kevlar vests. These will now actually house armour plates which will flat-out stop damage and take a durability loss instead. Many mods are also supported, including the newly-added More Gloves mod!

On The Door taught me something about Vanilla Zomboid I never knew after over 500 hours of playtime. Car keys can spawn in the locks of car doors in Vanilla, but the only way to retrieve them it to try and enter the car while it's locked, which will automatically pick up the key, BUT it won't give you any kind of notification. If the car's unlocked and there's a key in the door - tough luck. You won't get it when you enter. This mod allows you to pick up the key in that situation and it adds a notification when you do find a key this way - Hooray!

That's it for now. Detaching all the Arsenal + Brita stuff was tedious work, but worth it I think. Try this build out and let me know what you think!

Well, there goes my Saturday! Welcome to the 'Sophie' Collection Version 1.7! This was once again an update much bigger than what could be expressed by a decimal update number, but for consistency's sake, we'll stick with 1.7. Here's the meat'n'potatoes of this update:

I have removed Brita's Armor Pack following the removal of Brita's Guns in the previous version. I know Brita's mods are a staple for many people - me included - but consider this: Brita's Armor Pack itself is 3 GB in size and adds considerable bloat to any savegame using it. Most of the armour is set-dependant and you wouldn't really use it unless you had the whole set. Also, even with the balance patch, it still seems a little too modern and somewhat OP. Accessibility means that even people without top-tier internet connections should be able to grab this list, and removing Brita's mods cut its total download size down by a good third. Now, the only "big" mod still included is the True Music addon for period-accurate songs. I'm keeping this in for now, because I personally really enjoy the fact that you can entertain yourself (and your character!) with some banging 70-90s tunes ingame.
Please note that your military gear needs are still being met by Shark's military & law enforcement overhaul as well as a new inclusion of this list: KATTAJ1's military pack. Alongside kERHUS's armor absorb, which supports both of those mods, you'll still be able to brace for the apocalypse with potent protective gear.

Filibuster Rhyme's Cars are gone now, alongside the suite of supporting mods such as the emergency vehicles and FEMA cars. The reason for this: Filibuster hasn't yet added animations to his vehicles. The list already contains Shark's Vanilla Vehicle Overhaul, as well as most of KI5's more recent vehicles, all of which are fully animated. For the sake of visual consistency, I have removed almost all vehicles that do not yet feature animations. Side note: The new Sandbox settings (even normal) I've included have increased chances for vehicles to be locked when you find them, as well as lower starting condition. If you find a car that's in good shape AND a key for it, consider it a blessing!

I have replaced Duck's Building Spawn Fixes with Wake Them Up. The former made it so Zombies spawned inside of buildings immediately, instead of you having to get close and "activating" the building first. This had a considerable effect on performance, because MANY more zombies than usual would be spawned in at all times, regardless of population settings. This new alternative 'Wake them up' works in a similar way, but considers rooms rather than entire buildings, which has two noticable advantages:
1. Your CPU will have a lighter load due to not having to spawn in potentially 100-1000s of Zombies at once
2. The room you spawn in SHOULD be safe now, even if spawning in areas added by mods!
This still has an effect on CPU performance - It's just a little more performance-friendly now. In my testing, this has helped.

I replaced Bushcraft weapons with Simple Overhaul: Melee Weapons. The latter sticks more closely to the vanilla vision and doesn't add too many modern military-tier melee weapons. It also lets you craft a whole bunch of improvised spears with various implementy attached to them.

Other notable removals include: ForagingZ - This mod aims to fix foraging zones across the map, but this comes at the cost of load time and CPU performance. Computer - This lets you play PC games using CDs you can find much like casettes, but these are generated on-the-fly as you explore, so unnecessary scripts are being fired all the time. Boredom tweaks - Again, just removing some scripts that aren't needed, but also there's plenty of ways to keep your character entertained whilst confined to a house, with this mod you'd never ever really get bored. Food Expration Date and Bar - This turned out to be a major resource hog because it constantly calculated the expiration state of every single perishable food item nearby.

The other additions/removals have been done for similar reasons: Consistency & performance. I'm too tired to detail each and every one of them so if you wanna know about a specific change, just let me know.

I'm very keen to see if the increased performance is helping those of you who were struggling before, especially on Multiplayer. Be sure to let me know! This is certainly not the last update of this list. :)

This has been the most laborious update so far. Gun nuts can rejoice because BRITA'S GUNS are making a grand return! I have customized the settings for this mod heavily to bring it in line with the Vanilla+ vision of this collection. NOTE: This means that from now on, I am also providing a Mod Options preset file.
For ease of use I am simply giving you all of the relevant files in one archive.
Simply extract the entire ZIP folder into your C:\Users\YourNameHere\Zomboid folder.

Night Vision API is partially redundant. Oujinjin's Tiles are coming back because Chinatown does use some assets from it. Jump Through Window is replaced by the more dynamic and entertaining Dive Through Windows by popular request. Mining and Metalworking are gone because they're somewhat archaic in design - You can still do most of your metalworking by using salvage and scrap. Let's wait for b42 for proper prospecting.

This update turned into something much bigger than first anticipated. With the help of you - the community, I have streamlined the collection more and tried to find a nice balance between fun and realism.

The World Map has gotten an overhaul in an effort to trim down the fat added on by large tile packs which are used by some modded locations. This is why some maps like LV International Airport, despite being excellent, are getting removed. But fear not! Other locations have been added to compensate for these losses. All current maps either make use of Vanilla tiles only, or they will use the three most popular tile sets.
Of course, this shuffle was made with aesthetics and realism in mind - The world map is still very coherent and interconnected. There is even a new addition over the Ohio River - Leavenburg. Also, because there was the opportunity to neatly connect this map to Coryerdon, I learned how to map and created this connection myself.

Another focus was the removal of redundant or broken/outdated mods. Scrap Guns unfortunately doesn't pair very well with ArsenalGunfighter so it's gone. The other scrap modules remain, however, so keep crafting your stop sign armour and junk pickaxes! They will use their original crafting methods via The Workshop now, meaning you will need to craft their respective crafting tables, but those tables are no longer furniture - just very heavy items you'll have to have on hand for doing scrap crafting.

ArsenalGunfighter has gotten some further adjustments that I hope will be balanced. Ammo crafting has to be done using proper components, which are pretty rare and can not be crafted from scratch. To counter act this, ammo is a little more abundant than it was before - Be sure to check out gun stores or hunting supply stores for a big haul and remember that the green ammo canisters have multiple boxes of one ammo type in them.
I am waiting for Ammo Maker to update, but it's coming back at one point.

The mini update is here! I know it looks like a lot of added mods, but most of them are simple QoL or immersive additions, so they should have an absolutely negligible effect on performance. Most of these were requested in #suggestions so if you wanna see some mods join the collection eventually, be sure to let me know.

The Sophie's Tweaks mod has seen some further updates, as have the mod and sandbox settings. Vehicle spawns are now LOW, which means plenty more cars. :sophiexmas:

There is also one new location to visit for you: The Canvasback Studios just to the West of Muldraugh! Be sure to check it out or claim it as your base - It's a good one :^)

Bow and Arrow, Kitsune's Crossbows and the related mods Archery Skillbooks and Way of the Bow have been disabled in the preset file. If you are starting a new save I recommend leaving these disabled, if you're continuing your 1.9 save, they're still there for you to load. They will likely be gone in 1.10. Don't worry, they are already replaced by bows and crossbows from Brita's Gun Pack.

Do test all the new settings and let me know if anything needs further adjusting. (Especially vehicle spawns, Arsenal loot settings & Advanced Trajectory settings)

Overall, v1.11 has been a success. To add onto it, this mini update focuses on streamlining a few things that you have complained about. True Smoking is gone - This ambitious mod is a little too tough to balance properly, so we'll go back to Vanilla smoking. The soft incompatibility with Might Need A Lighter was also not addressed. Improvised Glass is now redundant, its entire functionality is included in the current version fo the Building Menu.

You may have read that KI5's mods are about to be updated - He has created a central library mod to service all of his vehicle mods from in the future. Over the next few weeks, his older car mods should get updated to conform to this new system, meaning that "That Damn Library" will become a hard requirement for each and every KI5 vehicle. This library is now added to Sophie to future-proof it when this happens. As an additional treat, the two newest KI5 mods are also now part of the collection: A tractor for those hardcore farmer roleplayers among you and another APC (no, the gun does not work, something something the military took all the high caliber ammo yada yada).

Other changes mainly affect the sandbox settings for various mods. Calorie burning was nerfed slightly and the weight system has been turned off in Evolving Traits World (this is what caused additional traits to appear as soon as you got over- or underweight). Lifestyle's meditation has also been nerfed hard and I've included a mod that gets rid of levitation (lol).

Removed mods will stay in the Steam collection until the next major update.

Sorry for the delay - I'm afraid v1.12 is still not 100% done, but it definitely is playable. Inside of the preset files, you'll find the main preset, as well as a super messy one that seems to have "fixed" the foraging zones of modded locations. A real fix will come over the course of the next few days.

v1.12 changes things up, gets rid of some annoyances and expands the map. Before spoiling too much, I'd encourage you to just try it out for yourselves. :sophiehooray:

How to update: Just subscribe to the collection again and hit "Add only". Grab my new preset and load it up. Done - New save required!!

Lite and Ultralite will be updated later on.

v1.12 wasn't as polished as it should have been but I wanted to deliver the 'product' to you within the deadline I had promised. It works, but the load order was totally scrambled in an attempt to fix some older issues that have been in the collection since at least v1.9.

The changelog for v1.12.1 is intentionally small - This update's main feature is an all-new, all nice and sparkly-clean load order that'll make it even easier for you to add your own mods to it. You'll notice that the mods are now strictly sorted by their general categories. If you're curious, here's how they are structured:

Tile Packs
Framework
UI and FX
Character adjustment (traits, skills)
Vehicles
All other mods (items, guns, clothes, recipes, other gameplay stuff)
Patches

This may have a positive effect on performance, but most importantly, it'll make sure that mods that need priority actually have it. If you were having some weird issues before, do see if they're fixed in v1.12.1.

Of course, I took the chance to make some changes to the mods as well. Eerie Country again is going to leave the collection - After gazing at the map for many a night, I do prefer the interconnected look we had going on before. Also, EC has some issues with overly abundant loot, which doesn't really fit with the rest of the map. In its place (not geographically, but you know what I mean) will be Taylorsville, a lovely, Vanilla-style littoral town just North of Rabbit Hash that connects to Coryerdon.

Vaccine Remod has had a major rewrite, removing bloat, adding some new stuff and also replacing the integrated Antibodies code with a more lightweight version. v1.12.1 has full support for this. Sophie's Tweaks was split into two mods, one for Vaccine v1, the other for Vaccine v2.

Due to the map changes and the Vaccine upgrade, a new save will be required unless you feel like doing some tinkering.

This is also the first time that the server preset will contain some more MP-only stuff! Thanks to our new testing ground, the official Sophie dedicated server (info at ⁠server-info, you're all welcome on it!), I can now properly try out some Multiplayer Quality of Life stuff which is already included in the preset for your convenience. Here's a list:

Note that these mods are not part of the collection, they will be downloaded as part of your server launching.
