Starlight River

Starlight River and Summoners
First at foremost. I freaking LOVE this mod, and a lot of what it introduces. Not even just for it's content specifically (Bosses and new mechanics are dope af though). But some of the new toys for Summoners specifically.

I'm not going to go indepth on EVERYTHING, just a few bits and bobs i've loved, or I think need improvement. And hopes for the future =D

We'll start at the beginning for this. Early Whips and Sentries..
The Tin / Copper Coils are such an awesome addition, weaker than the standard Leather Whip, but also infinitely easier to obtain. It gives dedicated summoners a viable form of actively fighting. The chain lightning effect is also awesome since it gives you some much needed crowd control early on when you're working with Finch or Flinx.

Echochain is an interesting whip, and has a ton of farming potential. Really good for large groups. And the eater of worlds! But worse than the Coils for singular enemies due to how slow it is. I really enjoy the gimmick here however, and would love to see it expanded on as Starlight River enters hardmode. =D

Magnet Beads is another interesting one, it requires you to pay a bit more attention than Snapthorn, but can nicely ramp up damage, I don't think it replaces the Snapthorn despite the higher damage, but it's a nice alternative.

Arms Dealer defense System (and Artillery License). A Sentry that's accessible almost as soon as you enter the game?! AND a Sentry slot?! This is quite simply, amazing.
Sadly the Sentry itself falls off VERY early into the game (As soon as you either beat Deerclops, get Forbidden Winds or find the Barkeep). But given the fact Summoners can get a Sentry before you defeat a boss is a godsend for the early game. And the extra Sentry Slot lets you start up a dedicated Sentry Summoner early as well. =D

This is where I have a genuine plight though, if possible make this thing Modular. And/or have it consume ammo if we happen to have some. I could see this thing being absolutely amazing with one or both of these features. But even just the option to use Tungsten/Silver bullets would elevate this thing to another level. =D

If not that, atleast offer the means to upgrade it through crafting, or have the Arms Dealer sell better versions. D:

Breach Cannon, a mild upgrade over the defense system. Though it's more or less a better Crimson Rod. Really good when enemies have predictable patterns, or for the Old Ones Army when you can just line up 2 and watch it go to work, lol. Sadly, it's strictly inferior to the Deer Clops sentry, and more niche than the Old Ones Army options. Still, easy to get, and an interesting gimmick, I'd love to see this expanded upon in hardmode =D

Aurora Bell, An interesting sentry requiring manual input like the Breach Cannon, but it doesn't have an idle function. I think it having a weak passive attack would do wonders for this thing, but as it stands it falls off very quickly once you defeat Ceiros. And even struggles to keep up with our little eyeball from Deerclops.

Or perhaps a secondary mode like the Recursive Focus. In Mode 2 it becomes passive, but it's weaker and has a smaller range. Would add a lot of potential to it I feel.

Speaking of Recursive Focus. I'm going to start off with the cons here.
#1. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this thing is LOUD. Please adjust the sound effects on it xD
#2. We can only have 1, even with multiple sentry slots :<

With that being said. This thing is AMAZING! Easily the best pre-hardmode Sentry, AND it has value into mid-late Hardmode! What it lacks in direct damage it makes up for with consistency there! Both of it's modes are useful (Ramping Single Target, and Multi-Target). Please, PLEASE introduce a stronger version as you guys expand into hardmode! xD Or atleast let me summon more than one! Lol.

A few other weapons before I move onto accessories.
Starwood Scepter - This thing, is GLORIOUS! Ignores walls, and when striking tagged enemies it restores Mana.. Plays off the new accessory SO damn well! I don't even remember how I got this thing. But i've loved every minute of it xD Still use it in hardmode (even if just one, for the Mana regen and attacking through walls)

Palenail - I have no real comment on this. Just that I love this. :>

Jetwelder - A true alternative to whips. This thing is super awesome! I do have one thing though, whichever option we select should become the passive build for it as we gain scrap. Buut even as is the entire concept behind this is awesome, and I'm hype to see how ya'll expand on this gimmick. (I can see plant or soul options pre and post plantera.), I think a slime, bee or "blood moon" based one would work for another early game option. =D

Maneater Pot - This thing is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TERRIFYING. It's damage numbers don't give a real sense for just how strong these things are!

Now for what I truly want to discuss. Summoner accessories!

Salt Cogs, Watch Battery and Exotic Timepiece - An interesting item that encourages active use of your sentries as a primary form of attack. I don't think this will quite shine until more upgrade options are introduced however.

Acorn Sprout - I really love this as a early game summoner accessory =D I'd love to see it upgradable, or even just more advanced versions of it. Perhaps the ability to combine it with other accessories?

Manabond - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you guys knocked this out of the park. This extends to all 5 iterations. Poison, Lightning, Water, Fire and Neutral. I carry all 5 around with me and change as the situation demands. These things carry through into late hard-mode. And sadly the ONLY weakness I feel they present is taking up a whole slot by themselves, i'd love to see this combined with other items. Maybe Pygmy Necklace and Artillery License? Breath life into all 3 of them. (And yes I fully mean make all 5 versions combinable with those 2 xD). Maybe even more types of Manabond! Ichor, Cursed Flames and Frostburn come to mind =D

Final Item I promise....

Slime Prince Set.
I'm just not even sure what I love more. An awesome early game Summoner set... Or the Slime Prince summon. o_o The mobility it adds alone has obscene value, but the slime prince is also a solid summon!

And my final note: I'd really love to see another pre-hardmode armor set for Summoners. I could see a Whip based set from our lovely squid that adds 1-2 extra whip hits (like the Slithering). Or a Ceiros set that adds Magmites or a free Recursive Focus (perhaps that is locked to Multi-target)

With that being said, if you read to the end. I appreciate your time =D And just genuinely. I freaking loved this mod. And I still have so much to discover about it! Even without the other 3 classes! It's wild to me how much you guys packed into a pre-hardmode Mod. And I'm so hyped to see where you go from here <3

PS. Also. I love Forbidden Winds =D Gives my Summoner MUCH needed mobility!

Thanks for the feedback, we'll consider everything here! Ammo usability on the defense system is a particularly good idea. Recursive Focus being super loud is also a common issue we've been getting, so that'll definitely be improved soon. We're also working on some more Summoner sets to flesh out progression a little more :)
